Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) program, implemented in spring 2012, included annual assessments for: \n• Reading and Mathematics, grades 3–8 \n• Writing at grades 4 and 7 (no longer administered as of 2021-2022) \n• Science at grades 5 and 8 \n• Social Studies at grade 8 \n• End-of-Course (EOC) assessments for English I, English II, Algebra I, Biology, and U.S History. \nWho? \nAll public-school students in Texas, Grades 3–12, take STAAR tests. \nWhat? \nSTAAR is the state’s testing program and is based on state curriculum standards in core subjects including reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies. \nWhen? \nSTAAR tests are given in the spring. The number of tests your child takes each year will depend on what grade he or she is in. Most students will have two to four testing days during the school year. \nWhere? \nSTAAR tests are administered to students during the school day, in classrooms settings that have been cleared of any instructional materials that may aid them on the test, and set up to make it easy to maintain a safe, secure, and orderly testing environment. If students have certain special needs and require special accommodations, they may be tested in a different setting. \nWhy? \nSTAAR tests are designed to measure what students are learning in each grade and whether or not they are ready for the next grade. The goal is to ensure that all students receive what they need to be academically successful. Meeting these individual student needs depends greatly on schools, parents, and community members working together. \nHow? \nSTAAR tests for Grades 3–8 and EOCs are offered in both online and paper formats for the 2021-2022 school year. Beginning with the 2022-2023 school year, all STAAR/STAAR EOC Assessments will be administered online. \n2021-2022 STAAR Tested Subject Areas/Grade Levels Administered \nGrade 3: Reading and Math \nGrade 4: Reading and Math \nGrade 5: Reading, Math, and Science \nGrade 6: Reading and Math \nGrade 7: Reading and Math \nGrade 8: Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies \nHigh School-End of Course STAAR Exams: Algebra I, English I, Biology, English II, and U.S. History \n*If a student took an End-of-Course in middle school and passed, then the student is not required toretake the test in high school. \nHow Texas STAAR Tests Are Scored \nSTAAR performance standards relate levels of test performance to the expectations defined in the statemandated curriculum standards known as the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) . Cut scores, established by the agency, distinguish between performance levels or categories. The process of establishing cut scores that define performance levels for an assessment is standard setting. Standard setting is also used to classify students into an appropriate performance category. \n• Masters Grade Level/Course Performance Standards \n• Meets Grade Level/Course Performance Standards: Targeted Area of Student Performance \n• Approaches Grade Level/Course Performance Standards \n• Did Not Meet Grade Level/Course Performance Standards \nHouse Bill 4545 \nDuring the summer of 2021, the Texas Legislature passed House Bill (HB) 4545 during the 87th Legisl","cbCaitewT7oCQ1zk","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaitewT7oCQ1zk","pdf",181243,"English","# INFORMATION FOR PARENTS ABOUT THE STAAR TEST\n## Who?\n## What?\n## When?\n## Where?\n## Why?\n## How?\n## 2021-2022 STAAR Tested Subject Areas/Grade Levels Administered\n## How Texas STAAR Tests Are Scored\n## House Bill 4545\n## Accelerated Instruction (AI)\n## Accelerated Learning Committee (ALC)","[{\"question\":\"Who is required to take STAAR tests in Texas?\",\"answer\":\"All public-school students in Texas, in Grades 3–12, take STAAR tests.\"},{\"question\":\"When are STAAR tests administered and how many testing days should families expect?\",\"answer\":\"STAAR tests are given in the spring, and most students have two to four testing days during the school year depending on grade.\"},{\"question\":\"What does House Bill 4545 require for students who did not meet grade level or missed assessments?\",\"answer\":\"It requires school districts to provide accelerated instruction in 2021–22 for students who “Did Not Meet” or did not take STAAR/STARR end-of-course assessments in Spring 2021, including targeted supplemental instruction aligned to TEKS.\"}]","COLDSPRING INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL STATE ASSESSMENT CALENDAR - 2021-2022 - STAAR Test Administration | PDF",1790794934,13]
