dedicatednot only to the famed Catachan JungleFighters but to Deathworid regiments fromacross the Warhammer 40,000 galaxy. \nSecondly the list can be used to field apure'Deathworld army, representing aforce that has been recruited more recently. It is a relatively lightly armed force whichuses its skills in jungle warfare to balanceits lack of big guns or tanks. \n## AN OVERVIEW OF CATACHAN\n\nCatachan is a deathworld,a planet soinimical to life that every day there is abattie for survival. The hardy people ofCatachan are descendants of the very firstsettlers who colonised the planetgenerations ago.By necessity, they are atough breed well versed in survival amidstplanet-wide jungles that swarm withvoracious predators,flesh-eating plants, poisonous insects and virulent diseases. \nWhile Deathworld troopers are better thanthe average Imperial Guardsmen, theirgreatest strength lies in their ability to movethrough jungles unhindered and lay boobytraps and ambushes to confound their foes.Deathworid troops can use the denseterrain of the jungle to cover them as theystrike and then fade back into the terrainbefore the enemy can muster a response. \nThe people of Catachan have but oneresource of value to the Imperium, theirsuperb regiments of Jungle Fighters.Oncerecruited they are dispatched to warzonesall across the galaxy where their skills injungle warfare are at a premium.Catachanwarriors readily accept the call to arms andin exchange for their loyalty their familiesand settlements receive technologies andmedicines that would normally beimpossible for them to obtain. \nVisually,a Deathworld Veterans amy isgreat for players who like a hard-bitten eliteforce made up of rugged individuals.Withno tanks or complex uniforms to worryabout, all you have to master are the basictechniques of painting tanned flesh andcombat fatigues. For the more advancedhobbyist there are lots of opportunities forcreating different camouflage schemes andconverting miniatures as part of theDeathword Veterans force. \n## DEATHWORLD VETERAN ARMIES\n\nCatachan is the most infamous deathworldin the galaxy, but it is by no means the onlyone.Deathworld troops are also recruitedfrom Cthelle,Luther Mclntyre,Canak,LostHope,Miral and dozens of other such hellholes. The army list which follows isreferred to as a Deathworld Veterans armylist so that players can also use Deathworldregiments of their own invention.Thisallows you to devise your own colourschemes, history and background for aDeathworld Veterans army. You may wishto adapt the rules for the jungleenvironment in this book to create adifferent type of deathworld for yourregiment, such as the polar deserts ofLuther Mclntyre or the methane swamps ofMiral. \n## WHAT’S IN THIS BO0K?\n\nCodex:Catachans is split
