The Community Engagement Committee has core representatives from each House and meets bi-weekly to discuss and develop new ideas, and plan events. \nCommunity Engagement in the House \nEach House is encouraged to initiate and sustain a community engagement project every term. Individuals can also take part in the various organised \nCommunity Engagement events organised by the school, like soup kitchen visits, environmental service, and volunteering at events. Students are also encouraged to join the larger projects, such as those offered at Good Shepherd School, Tiger Titans, Ntaba Maria Primary, Ikayalosizo, Eluxolweni and St Mary’s Primary. In addition, students can serve their school by helping with school events. \nGrade 10 Community Engagement \nEvery Monday afternoon, all Grade 10 boys take part in an array of outreach projects. The projects provide boys with the opportunity to engage meaningfully with people from a wide variety of backgrounds. Projects have, in the past, included sports coaching, art and music, and computer literacy teaching. \nGood Shepherd Primary School \nSt Andrew’s College has a special relationship and shared history with the Good Shepherd Primary School, as it is situated on the site where St Andrew’s College boys first attended classes. Our family of schools have regular contact with the Good Shepherd School, ranging from weekly activities like sports coaching, computer literacy, art and music with Grade 10 boys, to shared staff development opportunities with St Andrew’s Prep. We also run an outdoor education programme at our bush camp, Table Farm. The relationship is vibrant and mutually beneficial. \nST ANDREW’S COLLEGE CLUBS & SOCIETIES 2026 page ... 2 \nFIRST AID \nStaff member in charge: \nProfessional Nurse O Xintolo \nLevel 1 and 3 First Aid courses are offered once we have enough participants. Those who complete the course may then serve as first aiders at sports matches, particularly at hockey and rugby in the winter term. In doing so, they play an essential role in the sporting life of the school. First Aid volunteers are also in attendance at athletics meetings, basketball and water polo festivals. \nThe senior boys play an active role in running the club and take charge of the first aid for a game, guided by staff and with the assistance of paramedics. In the Houses, qualified first aiders are able to assist when first aid is required, as well as keeping the House first aid box stocked and ready for use. We have talksand practical interactive demonstrations on various First Aid topics, as well as debriefing on the weekend’s sports injuries. \nIn addition to gaining a valuable life skill, the boys may use their First Aid certificates to fulfil a Life Orientat","cbCailZnoKGbe89D","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCailZnoKGbe89D","pdf",2942780,1,23,"English","en",105,"# COMMUNITY SERVICE\n## COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT\n## First Aid\n## President’s Award\n## Round Square\n# GENERAL INTEREST\n## Agriculture and Conservation Society\n## Anime Club\n## Ballroom Dancing\n## Chess\n## Copernicans\n## Coding Club\n## Debating\n## Dramatic Society\n## E-Sports\n## Environmental Sustainability\n## Film Club\n## Library Monitors\n## Marketing\n## Model United Nations\n## Plato Society\n## Student Christian Assoc.\n## X-Art\n# MUSIC\n## Chamber Choir\n## Chapel Choir\n## Contemporary Band\n## Jazz Ensemble\n## Marimba Band\n## Pipe Band\n## String Orchestra\n## Wind Orchestra\n# EXPLORATION ACTIVITIES\n## Outdoor\n## Scuba Diving\n## Slack-lining Club\n## Surfing & Beach Club\n## Beekeeping","[{\"question\":\"How does the Community Engagement programme work across the Houses?\",\"answer\":\"Each House initiates and sustains a community engagement project every term, with opportunities to join school-organised events such as soup kitchen visits, environmental service, and volunteering.\"},{\"question\":\"What is included in the First Aid training and how do students use it?\",\"answer\":\"Level 1 and 3 First Aid courses are offered when there are enough participants.
