It explains how parents and leaders can select a suitable animal based on the child’s abilities and the animal’s safety, size, and temperament, and outlines how the book can be customized with additional notes, pictures, and stories. Included sections guide goal setting, recording basic details about the child’s poultry, documenting feeding and housing, finding and adding reference pictures, and labeling key chicken parts.","CLINTON COUNTY 4H \nCloverbud Project Record Book \nPOULTRY \nGRADE 1 \nName: __________________________ \nYear:____________________________ \nLeaders Name: __________________ \nNote to Parents: \nCloverbud animal projects are \n• non-competitive, \n• an opportunity to enjoy the animal, \n• an opportunity to learn through physical experience, \n• varied based on the species, the breed, the size and the temperament of the animal. \nIn selecting a project animal for a Cloverbud, the animal should \n• match the child's ability to work with the animal \n• be a breed that is safe for young children to work with, \n• be a size that child can handle, \n• have an adult who assumes responsibility for the health and safety of the animal and child, \n• have tasks involved in the care of the animal that the child can do. \nThe Cloverbud Project Record Book \n• is designed to record information about the animal the Cloverbud worked with, \n• can be adapted to meet individual needs \n• can have information added, such as additional coloring pages, a story about the child's work with his/her animal \n• is designed to be filled out for one animal in each species. If the Cloverbud wants to include multiple animals, make additional copies of“My Project Species.”(Note: a Cloverbud can show multiple animals of a species but only needs to keep a record for one of the species. For example, a Cloverbud showing 6 chickens, can keep a record book for his/her favorite chicken. ) \n• can be dictated by the Cloverbud and written by the parent/helper or written by the Cloverbud as he or she is able. \n• Includes spaces to record what events the Cloverbud has participated in during the year.
