We have many field trips and fun activities planned for June, so let ’s hope it continues! \nAs we approach the end of the year, we have a few reminders: \n􀂷 If your child is not returning to school in September, please contact the office to have your child ’s records released. \n􀂷 We have many items in the Lost and Found , please check to see if we might have any of your child ’s clothing. \n􀂷 Please check with Celeste to update your CORI form for next year. You cannot participate in ANY school activities without it. \n􀂷 Be sure your child has returned all their library books to Mrs. Higgins in the library. \n􀂷 ALL GRADE 4 students will need an updated physical by October1, 2014. \nPlease encourage your children to read over the summer and practice their math facts. Constant review of facts will promote automaticity for September. \nI would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the support and kindness that you have shown towards me this year. I feel so fortunate to work in such a happy and supportive school. See you in September! \nMrs. Coppola \nPTA Corner . \nOur last Book Fair will take place June 10-12. It is a“buy one-get-one” event. Please come by and pick up some books for summer reading! \nBefore the end of the school year, we will also be sponsoring a fundraiser at Orange Leaf. Be sure to watch for upcoming information from school. \nThe PTA would like to thank all parents who supported our school this year. \nStudent Council News \nAs the school year winds down, I would like to thank the fantastic group of students I have worked with this year. We were able to accomplish so much! We not only raised over $1000.00 for the school, but also reach out to our community to help the Food Pantry, send cards and candy to Veterans, mittens to the homeless, supply toys for children at holiday time, deliver much needed supplies for animals in shelters and send a check to the One Fund Boston. We discussed creating a mural for the front lobby as a School Council gift to the Cleveland School. \nWe do have to say a few goodbyes as Brendan G, Brendan B. , Marianna, Laura, Fares and Caroline move on to the Middle School. Thank you for your valuable contributions this year. You will be missed! \nMrs. Barry \nPat on the Back ... \nThis month’s \n“pat on the back” goes to : Aimee Worcester for always giving up her gym to assemblies without a complaint and to Charlie Haffey for helping us keep all of our school animals safe and alive! We would espe \ncially like to thank you for your help on the animal research projects! The students proudly read their reports in class and displayed the “stuffed” animals on the bulletin boards. They were very impressive! Also in reading and writing, we enjoyed learning about poetry. We loved reading all types of poems on “Keep a Poem in your Pocket Day”. \nIn Math, we have mastered exploring place value and comparing numbers using the greater and less than symbols. We continue to count coins by adding the quarter to coin combinations. Please take a handful of change for your child to count sometime to help us review this difficult concept. \nIn Science, we explored magnets and electricity. The students loved the hands on materials with the batteries and light bulbs!! We also examined seeds and plants.
