Epilogue \n[OceanofPDF.com](OceanofPDF.com) \nI \nLate-Night Carbs & Unexpected Space Daddies \nf my alien client asked me to “make the neon pop more with a socioplanetary synergy” one more time, I was going to hurl myself out the \nwindow of my thirty-story Neo-Toronto apartment complex and let a hoverbus claim my insurance policy. \nI stared at the glowing blue holo-display floating above my desk. The clock in the corner read 8:08 PM. My eyes felt like they had been scrubbed with space-sand, my long brown hair was piled into a messy bun held together by an old scrunchie, and my sweatpants had a suspicious smudge of something on the thigh. I was thirty-six, gainfully employed by a multiplanet marketing firm, and ninety percent sure I was dying of acute corporate burnout. \n“The purple is too terrestrial, Rosie,” I mimicked in a grating, nasal voice, throwing my stylus at the couch cushion.“The target demographic on Mars won’t resonate with a Y2K retro revival.” \nThey would resonate with it. It was brilliant. The Frutiger Aero water bubbles and metallic sheen were exactly what the client’s tech startup needed, but trying to get a bureaucratic alien middle-manager to agree on a color palette was like trying to teach a space-kraken how to knit. \nSuddenly, the floor beneath my feet gave a violent, low rumble. \nMy glitter cup wobbled through the air, sloshing warm space pop onto my rug as the walls groaned. I grabbed the edge of my desk, holding my breath until the vibration smoothed out into a faint, familiar hum. \nClink. My wrist-comm chimed, flashing an Earth Alert. Tectonic tremor detected in Sector 4. Magnitude 3.2. Automated takeout drone grid temporarily offline for structural calibration. \n“Great. Perfect,” I muttered.“No pop, no sanity, and now my pizza is probably trapped in a holding bay over Lake Ontario.” \nI dropped my head onto my desk, letting the cool glass soothe my aching forehead. Apparently, I only got headaches when working on this project lately. I was also so hungry my stomach was actively staging a coup. \nKnock, knock, knock. \nI blinked, lifting my head. A physical knock? In 2099? Nobody knocked unless their biometric door scanner was fried, or they were a ghost from the old century. \nI hauled my exhausted self off the chair and walked barefoot to the door. Iswiped the control panel, and the metal slab hissed sideways, retracting into the wall. \nStanding in the dimly lit, neon-soaked hallway was six feet of absolute, grade-A space-babe. \nXander. \nI should’ve known. He always grabbed my orders when he was on shift, turning those easy teasing lines into flirting every single time. He was more tame when I went into Cosmic Crust for takeout, and way more cheeky when he delivered. Go figure—no one around to hear him. \nHis bubblegum-pink skin caught the shifting neon glow of the hallway’s holographic billboards, reflecting flashes of hot pink and electric blue. Purple and teal leopard-print spots trailed up his arms and curved along the side of his neck like exotic tattoos. \nHe wore the tight black-and-silver uniform of Cosmic Crust, and it did terrible, wonderful things to his broad shoulders and sculpted chest that looked like it belonged to a high-tier gladiator rather than someone handing out carb-discs. \nI ","cbCaicKipCJ8uctu","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaicKipCJ8uctu","pdf",3380302,57,"English","# Contents\n## Late-Night Carbs & Unexpected Space Daddies\n## Garlic Knots and \"Texture\" Practice\n## Socio-Planetary Synergy Can Bite Me\n## Breaking Contracts & Exoskeletons\n## Galaxy Cab 900\n## Breakfast & Blackmail\n## Going Quantum on the Corporate Ladder\n## Your Fonts Are Ugly\n## Epilogue","[{\"question\":\"Who is Rosie and what problem does she face at the start of the story?\",\"answer\":\"Rosie is a thirty-six-year-old, corporate-burnout marketer working on a neon-themed client campaign.
