\nWelcometo the CitadelJournal \nby Ian Pickstock \nIn the last issue of the Journal,I had a tinyone-page article on a new way of sorting outrank bonus in games of Warhammer. So whatwas all that about, you ask?Am I fighting aone man battle to get the Warhammer ruleschanged,am I saying that the current rulesfor rank bonus aren't good enough?Well thetruth be known,Rick Priestley is getting a bitold now,and I hate to say it but his mindisn't what it used to be (it never was much tostart with!),while Tuomas Pirinen is sobeardy that his beard is marked along itslength with inches,so he can surreptitiouslydrape it across the battle field and use it tomeasure ranges for cannon and stone-thrower shot. But no,I'm not trying to dothe games designers'jobs or to rubbish whatthey do,far from it. \nFor instance,I know a lot of people(Americans, usually)complain about havingto use D6,saying 'they don't have a broadenough range'.Ofcourse here at GamesWorkshop,we have several good reasons forusing D6,not least because they're easy forpeople to get hold ofBUT,if you really wantto,if you really think that your armour saveswould benefit from being on a D10,insteadof bombarding the Games Designers and theInternet with your whinging about D6's,whydon't you spend a couple of hours switchingthe Warhammer game to a D10 system itshouldn't be too difficult, all you have to dois write a few tables up(OK,OK I confess,Iknow it isn't difficult, because I did it myselfa long time ago, maybe it's a phase allgamers go through). \nThe point of the article and any other shortone-offs like that is to try and encouragepeople to experiment a bit,to try new rulesand new ideas. If you have a new way ofplaying or you just want to change a rule, just give it a go.You don't need to seek thepermission of your local store manager orthe rule boyzand you certainly don't have towait for Games Day or the Grand \nTournament to hunt down Andy Chambersor Jervis Johnson to sanction your new ideas.Simply tell your opponent what you've gotplanned for the forthcoming game and give ita go (if your opponent doesn't give hispermission, tell him he's a moody git, andboring too). After the battle, don't forget tohave a chat about how the new rules workedif they worked! If things worked out fine, youcould make it a 'house'rule, that is a rulethat is used when playing at your house.Ifyou play at your mates, you'll have to playnormal rules, unless your friends adopt therule,or decide to use it for that game.Ofcourse, once you've adopted a house ruledon't think you have to stick with it.If it isn'tworking or isn't appropriate for a scenario, drop the rule or change it. \nAny way what I'm trying to say is don't beafraid to change things, and don't think thatyou have to get things in the Journal orWhite Dwarf,or officially sanctioned in aQ&A before you can try your ideas out, orinvent a house rule.Of course that said, ifyou have a new idea or a variant rule, orwhatever don't hesitate to send it in toJournal Steve, here in the 'skip'.(Hey!That'sMrJournal Steve, and it's a 'Bunker'not abloody skip!!!) \nWell I've ranted long enough now,I'm offnow to scour my new copy of WarhammerAncient Battles that Jervis was kind enoughto give me.While I don't have an Ancientsarmy yet,I want to try out some of the manyextra rules in a game of Warhammer. \nPlus,I may get round to putting pen to paperand tell you about a really bizarre way ofplaying Warhammer. \nA \n1 \nCITADEL JOURNAL 28 \nIs There Anybody Out There? \nThe Low life and The High life by Gav Tborpe \nEDITOR \nThe Attack on Doran VI by Andy Judson \nCOVER \nWayne England \nNEWS &VIEWS \nWelcome to the Journal \nEx-Journal geeza lan Pickstock shares with us some of life's more astuteobservations.. \nProving that there's more to Canada than mounties, snow and moose,theS.PS.S.Q.U.","cbCaikEzbyGmeGKN","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaikEzbyGmeGKN","pdf",41457050,100,"English","# Welcome to the Citadel Journal\n## News & Views\n## House Rules\n## Scenarios\n## Overwatch!
