Unless you tell us that you plan to harm yourself or someone else, then no one will know we spoke.  \nWhat does contact with CISM look like?  \nIf you contact the committee via phone call, text message, or email expect to leave a message initially. We are controllers and may be on position when you call. We generally do not reach out for initial contact after any incident or accident. While there are general reports of issues, we do not hear about everything and a response is not always warranted or welcome. You should contact us if you want our assistance or give the blessing to your FacRep that we can reach out to you. This is really just out of respect and confidentiality.  \nWho can CISM help?  \nAs peer-to-peer support, we are best-suited to help our fellow aviation safety professionals. We are trained to help you navigate acute stress and we are armed with resources if a conversation with us isn’t enough. We can help guide you to the best resource for your specific situation if you choose. IE: Your regional Rep for your concerns, Work-life Solutions, etc. If you decide that you’d rather not pursue anything outside of our conversation, that’s just fine too.  \nWhat can CISM really do to help me?  \nWe are trained in different signs/symptoms of stress and armed with lots of resources for you in the event that a conversation with us isn’t enough. We aren’t medical professionals, but we can help get you in contact with the right people if you chose. The key to this Committee is that we are essentially a confidential one-stop-shop to discuss what you’re going through and work with you on getting the right help. Our goal is to  \neducate our members so when they’re faced with a stressful situation, they’re better prepared to navigate it. We’re an outlet to speak freely without judgement. We’re controllers, so we understand the stress that goes along with that, which builds  \nthat rapport right away.
