The NPF is the only foundation dedicated to patients who are suffering from all forms of pancreas disease – pediatric pancreatitis, acute pancreatitis, chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer. A National Patient Registry is being developed for individuals suffering the isolating and debilitating conditions associated with pancreatic disease. \nThe NPF and its founding members and volunteers are committed to maximum efficiency. The Foundation’s goal is to direct as much of our revenue to programs. To achieve this we rely heavily on the invaluable donations of time, energy and financial support of the many friends and interested parties who have been touched by the suffering of so many people. Research grant proposals from a wide variety of researchers are solicited. With the help of the Foundation’s Grant Review Council, the NPF makes grants to those whose proposals appear most likely to lead to scientific advancements in the field of pancreatic disease. Founded in 1997, the NPF has given over $2.5 million to fund 92 groundbreaking research projects. The Foundation advocacy efforts have also been very effective, actively participating on the advisory council for National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, the National \nCancer Institute Gastrointestinal Steering Committee, and as Department of Defense Consumer Reviewers. Furthermore, the NPF has supported initiatives that have led to millions of dollars of additional research funding by the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense, and other institutions. \nCONTACT \n866-726-2737 \n[info@pancreasfoundation.org](info@pancreasfoundation.org) \n3 Bethesda Metro Center, Suite 700 􀀡 Bethesda, Maryland 20814 \n[http://www.pancreasfoundation.org](http://www.pancreasfoundation.org) \n“Food”, said James Beard,“is our common ground, a universal experience.”Although this is absolutely true for most of us, for pancreatic patients, food – next to pain – is the one thing that sets them most apart from their family and friends. \nI know this intimately because Lauren, my fifteen year old daughter, was born with pancreatitis. I spent her early years trying to insure she didn’t feel this way. \nSince Pancreatitis is extremely rare in children it wasn’t an easy diagnosis and even with a diagnosis, a clear path was uncertain. I was initially told that if I wanted to keep Lauren pain-free I would have to severely limit her diet to 10% fat: as a cookbook author, this dictum both devastated and challenged me. I was committed to not singling her out and instead of making a separate meal for her, made only high flavor, interesting and innovative meals that the whole family could enjoy: after all, I realized, my satisfaction came from several arenas, most importantly keeping her healthy, but also from the simple act of preparing the food, the challenge of integrating her dietary limitations into our meals and the way eating a meal brought my family and friends together. \nWe eventually discovered that Lauren’s particular condition did not necessitate a low-fat diet: in fact, she is lucky enough to be able to eat anything she wants (within reason) . However, not everyone is so lucky. At the National Pancreas Foundation – on whose Board I serve – we hear from many pancreatic patients that mealtimes have become a struggle: boring, tasteless, even depressing. Although Lauren’s diet has expanded, her in","cbCaiv9sfmiyo0oE","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiv9sfmiyo0oE","pdf",608542,119,"English","# DIPS\n## Tomato Salsa\n## White Bean Dip\n# BREAKFAST AND EGGS\n## Pancakes\n## Steel Cut Oats with Cranberries and Walnuts\n## Apple Banana Smoothie\n## French Toast\n## Spinach and Cheese Frittata\n## Granola\n## Baked Broccoli Frittata\n# SALADS\n## Farro Panzanelle\n## Tuscan Bread Salad\n## Greek Salad","[{\"question\":\"What is the purpose of the National Pancreas Foundation in this cookbook?\",\"answer\":\"The National Pancreas Foundation supports people affected by pancreatic disease through funding cutting-edge research, advocating for new therapies, and providing patient and caregiver education.\"},{\"question\":\"Why did the author focus on low-fat, high-flavor recipes?\",\"answer\":\"After a challenging prescription to limit fat for her daughter’s pancreatitis, the author worked to create appealing meals that the whole family could enjoy despite dietary limitations.\"},{\"question\":\"How is the cookbook structured?\",\"answer\":\"The table of contents organizes recipes by categories such as dips, breakfast and eggs, and salads, starting with dip recipes like Tomato Salsa and White Bean Dip.\"}]","CHRONIC PANCREATITIS COOKBOOK - NPF Cookbook 2015 Update | PDF",1790515625]
