Starting with abroody hen and two eggs, it is possible to have up to fifty adult birds within less than two years.  \nBut to be successful raising poultry you have to work hard. Enough food has to be grown.  \nA hen house has to be built and kept clean.  \nThe poultry must be checked every day.  \nThe poultry must be fed every day and their eggs collected. The eggs have to be divided, some for eating and others for incubation.  \nAs you can see, this is a lot of work, but it is well worth it.  \nHens will always lay eggs – they are an important improvement in a family diet. Because eggs are rich in proteins, it is good to give one every day to a child. This will help the child to grow more healthy and strong. BUT, if you do not look after the hens properly they will no longer lay eggs for you.  \nHens and eggs are greatly valued as sources of food and so it is always possible to sell them, and in this way increase the family income.  \nFamilies who live in the country are able to produce sufficient maize to feed fifty adult hens. However, in order to obtain a good supply of eggs and hens, it is necessary to understand and follow these simple rules.  \nPreparation Foods  \nMaize is one of the crops necessary for good production of eggs.
