The narrative centers on the friendship between Chicken and Millipede, which is constantly marked by their competitive nature. To determine who is the superior player, they decide to engage in a football match. Initially, Chicken faces challenges with her speed and kicking distance compared to Millipede, leading to frustration. The competition escalates to a penalty shootout, where Chicken's goalkeeping skills are tested, and Millipede demonstrates superior scoring ability, netting five goals. Overcome by a loss and her inability to be a graceful loser, Chicken reacts with fury and swallows Millipede whole. The story concludes with Chicken encountering Mother Millipede, who inquires about her missing child, to which Chicken remains silent, leaving Mother Millipede worried. This story highlights themes of competition, sportsmanship, and the consequences of anger and poor losing.","Chicken and Millipede \nEnglish Animal Stories \nCopyright © 2014, African Storybook Initiative \n[http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/](http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) \nYou are free to make commercial use of this work.
