Working \nPart of our school climate focus is to work together to create an inclusive environment that helps everyone reach their full potential, and in conjunction with the Peel Board’s mission to inspire hope, confidence and success in students. \nStudent Leadership Council \nArnott Charlton has launched a joint student-teacher leadership council, where students are given the opportunity to lead initiatives and build their leadership abilities. \nThere are 5 Leadership teams which include, Spirit Squad, Jr. Tech Team, Community Outreach Team, Playground Activity Leaders and Peel Mentoring Team. Each team will have 2-3 teacher facilitators who will help students create and lead school initiatives. \nUpdates from the various teams will be provided to inform our school community of new and exiting things that are happening at Arnott Charlton. \nSpirit Squad \nThis team will work together with teacher facilitators to foster our school climate. Students will lead spirit days, create announcements to inform students of upcoming events and perform at assemblies. \nJr. Tech Team \nThe junior tech team works collaboratively with 2 teachers, where they will learn to develop and build technological skills. This team will be responsible for maintaining our Netbooks, Mobi’s and the computer lab. They will learn how to set up the school sound system on the stage, prepare the computers and slideshows for our assemblies, take pictures, post blogs and help keep our twitter account active with updates. At team meetings they will develop new ideas with the iPads and showcase any new apps or skills that will help our school enhance 21st century learning skills. \nCommunity Outreach Team \nThis team will learn to develop leadership skills within our community. With teacher facilitators they will network with community organizations and help with fundraisers that benefit the community such as food drives, clothing drives and raising money for charity. Students will lead the school in initiatives, create announcements and posters. \nPlayground Activity Leaders (P.A. They are taught how to lead games in small groups, learn problem solving skills and model positive behaviour. PALS will be offered to grade 3 students who would like the opportunity to lead and become a positive role model. \nPeel Mentoring Team \nThis team will work in collaboration with our BTA, Ms. Bashford, where they will learn to develop conflict resolution skills and help students solve their problems positively. They model positive behaviour while out on the playground and encourage students to solve their problems in a positive and respectful manner. \nThe Peer Mentoring Team will be visible during outdoor nutrition breaks and students on the playground who are having difficulty to solve problems can come to this team for help. The team will direct more serious problems and/or issues such as a bullying situation or a physical injury to the teacherson duty. This team works together to provide strategies to students in order for them to solve problems independently. They learn new strategies and create a problem solving model for students. \nSchool Website \nCheck our site for board information, our newsletter, calendar, and other news.
