The student's final grade will be lowered by onehalf of a letter grade for each absence. Grading will be based on the following:  \n1. Class Participation-10%;  \n2. Oral Reports-20%; Each student will lead an oral discussion based on one of the following  \na) A section of Calvin’s Institutes;  \nb) Another primary source selection from the writings of any major Reformation figure;  \nc) A major secondary work about the Reformation.  \nOral reports will begin the third weekend of class and should last about 30 minutes. The students should submit an outline of their presentation to the class and the report should include both lecture and discussion. Grading on the oral report will be based on the quality of the outline, lecture and discussion. Discussion questions should be included on the outline.  \n3. Paper-25%. The paper is due on the day of the final exam and should be based on the same topic as the oral report. All paper topics need to be cleared with the instructor. Papers should be at least 10 pages but not more than 20 pages in length. Footnotes and bibliography are required and should follow the Chicago Manual of Style format.  \n3. Midterm (20%) and Final Exams –(25%); The exams will be an essay format and the students will submit sample short answer and essay questions the week prior to the tests. The instructor will choose from this list twenty-five short answer and two essays as possible questions for the final. The students will receive these possible questions one month prior to the tests. The exams will consist often short answer questions and one essay.
