The questionnaire is an academic, interest-based measure completed in early February and returned in March, with a personalised workbook guiding systematic research. This year includes an additional digital dynamic format and online shortlisting via MySchool, alongside use of Unifrog to broaden unbiased research options and track progress.","Dear Lower Sixth Form Parents/Guardians,  \nRe: Cambridge Occupational Analysts ‘Centigrade’ Questionnaire  \nAs your son progresses further through his Sixth Form career at Bedford School, it is time to focus our thoughts more firmly on his pathway Beyond Bedford. As part of the Careers provision in place, which includes the annual UCAS Information Evening for Parents and boys in the Summer Term, your son has the opportunity this term during Citizenship to complete the Cambridge Occupational Analysts ‘Centigrade’ questionnaire.  \nThis is an academic measure and interest-based questionnaire, designed specifically to match your son with preferentially sequenced careers identities, coupled alongside courses and institutions which he may well wish to explore further. This year, the boys will be taking their Centigrade questionnaire in early February, and will receive it back with in March. There are other aptitude tests available – many of you will have heard of Morrisby Testing, however, the service and accuracy from COA and Centigrade, and the way the personalised workbook each boy gets guides them into a systematic research process, means their decision-making paradigm is greatly enhanced.  \nTheir personalised workbook lists the relevant university courses and institutions. Additional sections cover information on open days, taster courses and the application process. The Centigrade workbook includes course analysis forms which provides this crucial starting point and structure for boys to carryout research.  \nIn a new innovation this year Centigrade has all the same elements as before but also available in a digital, dynamic format. Boys can choose to use their Centigrade log-into research the results of their report online and also be able to amend their grade expectations over time to see what courses would be available to them, as well as apply lots of filters. They can then create a shortlist that you can see through MySchool, where their online research is held.  \nCoupled with Unifrog (see appendix following letter), this means our boys have a wide choice of how to research, what to research and unbiased careers advice from well-respected external careers organisations, alongside in-school expertise.  \nMany schools use COA’s Centigrade service, and feedback can be seen as very positive:  \nCentigrade is an integral part of our preparation for the higher education programme. For some it provides that essential initial impetus, for most it is a strong confirmation that their existing ideas are indeed appropriate. They are presented with areas to explore in a form that they find structured and easy to use, and the tutors find the workbook invaluable as a basis for discussion. Uppingham School  \nCentigrade is invaluable in encouraging students to think about their career and higher education options. The workbook is full of clearly presented information, which almost always stimulates plenty of discussion and further research.
