the Southern California district of California DECA. The SoCal DAT works under the supervision of the SoCal DAT Advisor.  \nGOAL  \nDECA activities assist in the development of academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, experienced leaders. The SoCal DAT will help strengthen local chapters through their DECA involvement.  \nROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES (DECA STUDENTS)  \nThe SoCal DAT works under the advisement of the SoCal DAT Advisor, to fulfill the following roles and responsibilities:  \n􀂃 New Chapter Support (For new chapter advisors and officers)  \nProvide support to new chapters through school visits, virtual meetings, and online correspondence in partnership with the State Management Team.  \n􀂃 New Chapter Recruitment  \nAssist in Identifying prospective new chapters to join Southern California DECA and conduct outreach and recruitment efforts in partnership with the State Management Team.  \n􀂃 Competitive Event Training  \nDeliver competitive event trainings (ranging from beginning to advance trainings) to help support the growth of competitive event skills and knowledge for SoCal chapters through virtual sessions and chapter visits.  \n􀂃 Community Outreach & Advocacy  \nAttend community events and conduct advocacy activities with community leaders to promote DECA and represent DECA as ambassadors.  \nADVISOR  \nFor questions regarding the Southern California DECA District Action Team, contact the SoCal DAT Advisor, Michael Buxton ( [mbuxton@powayusd.com](mbuxton@powayusd.com) ) .  \nSOCAL DAT ADVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES  \nThe SoCal DAT Advisor works in partnership with the State Management Team to oversee the SoCal DAT. The SoCal DAT Advisor will report to the California DECA State Director.
