Following Adam and Eve's expulsion from the Garden of Eden, they had two sons, Cain and Abel. Abel became a shepherd, while Cain cultivated the soil. Both brought offerings to the Lord; Abel offered the firstborn of his flock, which was favorably received, while Cain's offering of soil fruits was not. This led to Cain's anger and a downcast demeanor. The Lord warned Cain about sin's desire and the need to master it. Despite the warning, Cain invited Abel to the field and subsequently attacked and killed his brother. This narrative explores themes of jealousy, divine favor, sin, and the tragic consequences of succumbing to anger. The text includes specific biblical verses and a copyright notice, indicating it is intended for non-commercial adaptation and distribution under similar licensing terms. The illustrations depict key moments of the story, including the brothers bringing offerings and Cain's act of violence.","Cain and Abel \nGENESIS 4:1-16 \nEnglish Spiritual \nCopyright © 2004, Kartidaya \nYou may not use this work for commercial purposes. Now, Adam had to work hard to grow crops so that he and Eve could live. \nSometime later, Adam lay with his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said,“With the help of the LORD I have brought forth a man.” Later she gave birth to his brother Abel. \nGenesis 4:1-2a \nNow Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil. \nGenesis 4:2b \nIn the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the LORD. But Abel brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. \nGenesis 4:3-4a \nThe LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering, but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast. \nGenesis 4:4b-5 \nThen the LORD said to Cain,“Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.” \nGenesis 4:6-7 \nNow Cain said to his brother Abel,“Let's go out to the field.” And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him. \nGenesis 4:8","cbCaij4CHWZQLyia","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaij4CHWZQLyia","pdf",1105011,1,18,"English","en",105,"# Cain and Abel\n## Genesis 4:1-16","[{\"question\":\"What is the origin of the story of Cain and Abel?\",\"answer\":\"The story of Cain and Abel is from the Book of Genesis in the Bible, specifically chapter 4, verses 1 through 16.\"},{\"question\":\"What were the occupations of Cain and Abel?\",\"answer\":\"Cain worked the soil, cultivating crops, while Abel kept flocks of sheep and became a shepherd.\"},{\"question\":\"Why did God favor Abel's offering over Cain's?\",\"answer\":\"The text states that Abel brought fat portions from the firstborn of his flock, and the Lord looked with favor on him and his offering.
