Alvin, the photographs are actually frommany Alvin dives, from many different parts of thePacific Ocean. \n~~~~~~ \nWnene we?his the moon?INo!Thisthe botm of the ocean. We are 12,000 feet underwater. \nEveryone knows about the astronauts who explore space. But do youknow about the people who explore the ocean floor? They travel inspecial submarines that are a lot like spaceships. \nWhat is the ocean.floor like? What lives there? \nMost of the ocean.floor is freezing cold andcompletely dark. There are strange rocks and evenstranger animals. It is like nowhere else on earth. The ocean floor is so different from where we live thatscientists want to learn as much about it as they can.Sometimes they take short trips to the ocean floorin special submarines.Today you will join them.5 \nisAlvin,the submarine you wvill ridein.Alvin is one of the deepest-diving boatsin the world. It can go down as far as 13,000feet-more than two miles! \nAlvin is more like a spaceship than a boat.It carries tools to help scientists study theworld outside its tiny windows. It carriesweights that help it sink more quickly. It alsocarries sample baskets and robot arms to usein experiments. There is hardly any room forthe people! \nThe scientists who will dive with you havespent almost two years getting ready for thisday. They have been reading about the oceanfloor. They have been studying the work ofother scientists. They have worked long hoursin their laboratories. At last,it is time to goto sea. \nThis is the floodlight. This is the sample basket. There's only room for three people-and it's a tightsqueeze. \nocean,on a huge ship called the Atlantis II.","cbCaivx8UjPUJ00S","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaivx8UjPUJ00S","pdf",2867697,36,"English","# PHOTO CREDITS\n## Special thanks and photo
