Should a student in Year 11 fall seriously behind and they risk not achieving a grade, subject teachers shall be in contact with parents/carers regarding this. If students do not complete work needed such as NEA by the required deadline, then the student will not be entered, and the parents/carers will be informed.  \nThe school pay for all examination entries except those of external candidates. Students who are retaking GCSE subjects for a second time will generally be asked to pay for themselves.  \nHolidays should not be booked in term time and never in the exam season which runs from early May until the end of June (exact dates are shared with Y11 students and parents in the spring term, including contingency dates for which candidates must be available. ) Exam dates are set nationally and cannot be moved by the school so absences of any kind must be avoided.  \nStudents are expected to sit every exam they are entered for and invoices will be sent to any candidates who miss an exam without good cause.  \nGCSE ENGLISH LANGUAGE  \n| Exam board | AQA – single tier of entry.
