Unfortunately, BIM applications normally stop prior to the construction stage, and the downstream stages have seldom become the arena of BIM applications. Therefore, the MEP layout optimal design from BIM will no longer fit properly to the installation space if there are as-built deviations in the construction of these spaces. This project presents an approach of utilizing BIM to optimize MEP layout from preliminary design to construction phase. \nIn this framework, BIM models are developed at five level-of-details: 3D MEP preliminary design model, 3D MEP detailed design model, 3D MEP construction design model, MEP construction model and MEP prefabrication model. This work mainly focused on clash detection, which may arise during construction and developing methods for solving those clashes. Four types of optimization methods have been developed to demonstrate, how they can able to solve constructability issues. A case study is implemented to validate this BIM approach framework. The results show that BIM can efficiently improve MEP layout and reduce cost in construction preparation stage and emphasized the need to pay more attention on construction stage, so as to ensure MEP installed successfully. \nI. INTRODUCTION \nBuilding information modelling (BIM) has revolutionized building and infrastructure development within the construction and civil engineering industries over the last decade. A plethora of studies expound the virtues of BIM implementation throughout adevelopment's whole life cycle. However, BIM implementation has been slow particularly among small-to-medium enterprises. Many solutions to poor implementation have either focused upon technical issues (such as: software interoperability, cost of software and employee training) or non-technical issues (such as: legal uncertainties, cultural change, disruption in workflow, project delivery and contracts. However, resolving these issues requires a deeper and richer knowledge of critical success factors (CSFs) used for measuring the successful implementation of BIM. \nBuilding information modelling (BIM) has revolutionized building and infrastructure development within the construction industry over the last decade.A plethora of studies expound the virtues of BIM implementation throughout a development's whole life cycle. LITERATURE REVIEW \nDecisions made and approaches taken in Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) design coordination largely depend on knowledge and expertise of professionals from multiple disciplines. Furthermore, the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) inMEP design coordination has greatly increased the amount and quality of available data. However, what information should be pulled from the model and what approaches should be taken to perform various coordination tasks still largely relies on expert knowledge. This study compares the behaviors of experienced BIM coordinators with at least three years of experience on model-based design coordination with novices who are tech-savvy but have limited project experience when performing certain co","cbCaiqLmg8Iu3SWo","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiqLmg8Iu3SWo","pdf",1492946,"English","# Abstract\n# Introduction\n# Literature Review\n# Methodology\n## Project Cycle","[{\"question\":\"Why is BIM often insufficient for MEP work through the construction stage?\",\"answer\":\"BIM applications frequently stop before construction, so downstream stages seldom use BIM.
