The assessments for English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics will be administered to students in grades 3-9 (some students maybe required to test in grade 10 based on unique circumstances) and the Science assessments will be administered to students in grades 5, 8 and 11. \nThe NJSLA assessments are statewide assessments that assess students’ progress toward the New Jersey Student Learning Standards in ELA, Mathematics, and Science. The assessment is administered in computer-based testing(CBT) format, although paper-based testing (PBT) is available as an accommodation. English Language Arts (ELA) assessments will focus on writing effectively when analyzing text. Mathematics assessments will focus on applying skills and concepts and understanding multi-step problems that require abstract reasoning and modeling real-world problems, precision, perseverance, and strategic use of tools. Science assessments will focus on applying scientific concepts and practices within the domain of Earth and Space, life, and physical sciences. Students will demonstrate their acquired skills and knowledge by answering selected-response items, constructed response items and technology-enhanced questions. \nThere are a few ways parents and guardians can help prepare their child for the assessments: \n● Your child has been issued a district Chromebook, please ensure they bring it to school charged onevery day of testing \n● Make sure your child attends school on the days of testing. Students who arrive late during testing will not be able to enter the classroom due to interruption while others are testing. \n● Send your child with a pair of headphones, which are needed for the assessment. \n● Have your child get a good night’s sleep the night before each test. \n● Encourage your child to eat a healthy breakfast each morning before testing. \nPlease note, according to New Jersey Department of Education State assessment regulations, electronic devices are not permitted in any testing room during testing. This mandate applies to all electronic devices, including cell phones, smart watches, and digital readers. Please share the importance of adhering to this regulation with your child prior to test administration. \nNJSLA schedules and information can be found on the district website in the Office of Academics tab, under the Statewide Assessments heading. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the spring administration of the assessments, please contact your building principal. \nSincerely, \nMelissa Franzosi, Director of Student Services District Testing Coordinator","cbCaihJGGAbgRZgX","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaihJGGAbgRZgX","pdf",128706,"English","# April 2025 NJSLA Testing Overview\n## Subjects, Grades, and Testing Format\n## How Parents Can Prepare\n## Device Rules and Where to Find Schedules","[{\"question\":\"Which grades will take the NJSLA for April 2025?\",\"answer\":\"ELA and Mathematics are administered to students in grades 3–9, with some students possibly required to test in grade 10.
