Understanding the New BTEC Nationals Learner Completions \nLearner Achievement (Grade outcomes and technical reporting) \nSlides 3-9 \nSlides 10-18 \nSlides 19-46 \nBTEC L3 qualifications \nBTECs are rigorous, future-focused, and globally recognised qualifications that equip learners of all ages with the knowledge, skills, behaviours, and confidence to succeed in a modern, skills-based economy. One in five UK working age adults have one or more BTECs, and 6 million learners have achieved a BTEC in the last decade. \nThe courses are developed hand-in-glove with employers. This approach ensures that not only are the learners set up for a successful transition into the workplace, but they will go into jobs that will help satisfy the UK economy’s widening skills gaps. Included in the class of 2023 are many future healthcare professionals, engineers and construction workers who are so vital to the UK’s economy. \nLevel 3 BTECs are globally recognised and continue to be the most popular vocational qualification to support progress to university-approximately 50% of Level 3 BTEC graduates will continue into Higher Education with the rest going into employment, an apprenticeship or further study. \nBTEC Nationals (2016): Supporting Student Progression to HE, Career & Lifelong Learning \n• Min. 40-60% mandatory content, developed in consultation with over 5,000 stakeholders \n• Designed to be ‘Applied Generals’(primary progression is Higher Education), and ‘Tech Levels’(primary progression is to employment) \n• Two sectors included in new Trailblazer apprenticeships (Construction, Engineering) \n• Features employability skills aligned to those identified in ‘Future of Skills and Employment’ report \n• Min. 30-40% externally assessed (via a mix of exams and tasks) \n• Contains internal assessment to develop and assess learners’ practical skills \n• Learners must obtain a minimum points threshold across units to achieve thequalification \n• Supports social mobility – access and progression \n• Designed to be part of 16- 19 curriculum, builds on Level 2, aids progression to Level 4 \n• Different sizes for different learner profiles \n• Supports and is largely funded for learners aged 19- 23 years \nContext of the 2022/23 academic year \nThis academic year in line with the regulatory guidance from Ofqual the aim was to return to pre-pandemic performance standards and we had checks and balances in place to allow us to be sensitive to the disruption learners have faced. \nBTEC courses have a different structure and design to academic qualifications – BTECs are modular qualifications (with assessments taking place throughout the course) compared to GCSEs and A levels which are linear (assessed and awarded at the same time at the end of the year) . \nThe aim of all awarding bodies has been to ensure fairness for learners by neither advantaging or disadvantaging anyone group of students compared to their peers. Further information can be found here. \nWhen making comparisons to historical years we need to be mindful, as the context and aim of last academic year was to see it as a transition year before a return to pre-pandemic standards this academic year. There have also been significant changes in the cohort make-up and size from historical years. \nAs in every year, there was an appeals process in place. \nBTEC Nationals (2016)*: Key Headlines \nThe Extended Certificate (360 size) remains the most popular size. \nOverall, the number of entries across all qualification sizes has remained relatively stable compared to 2022. \nBusiness, Health & Social Care , Applied Science, Sport and Information Technology remain the five most popular sectors. \nOverall, outcomes have generally returned to pre-pandemic standards and therefore are lower than 2022 in cou","cbCaiqct3E2MkjmI","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiqct3E2MkjmI","pdf",1925888,47,"English","# BTEC Nationals (2016) Results 2023\n## Introduction: BTEC L3 qualifications and Understanding the New BTEC Nationals\n## Learner Achievement (Grade outcomes and technical reporting)\n## BTEC L3 qualifications\n## BTEC Nationals (2016): Supporting Student Progression to HE, Career & Lifelong Learning\n## Context of the 2022/23 academic year\n## BTEC Nationals (2016): Key Headlines\n## Introduction: Understanding the BTEC Nationals (2016)\n## BTEC Nationals (2016-RQF) Overview\n## Introduction: Understanding BTEC Nationals (2016) Results\n## Data definitions","[{\"question\":\"What does the document cover about BTEC Nationals (2016-RQF) in October 2023?\",\"answer\":\"It covers learner achievements including grade outcomes and technical reporting, with results across qualification sizes and sectors, and provides key performance context for the 2022/23 academic year.\"},{\"question\":\"How were the new BTEC Nationals (2016) specifications developed?\",\"answer\":\"They were informed by discussions with 5,000+ stakeholders including teachers, students, universities, and employers, and supported by research on effective education systems.\"},{\"question\":\"How do BTEC Nationals (2016) assessments differ from linear academic qualifications?\",\"answer\":\"BTEC Nationals are modular, with assessments occurring throughout the course, while GCSEs and A levels are linear and assessed and awarded at the end of the year.\"}]","BTEC Nationals (2016-RQF) Results - October 2023 | PDF",1792473427,118]
