I have grown to appreciateand love its unhurried atmosphere, its charm -half country village and half seaside town -and I have enjoyed the friendly hospitality ofits inhabitants. \nThe history of the New Church cause inBrightlingsea goes back,I believe, for morethan 150 years, and is rich in anecdotes. Butthere is much more history to be unfolded in thefuture if opportunities are taken for proclaimingthe Heavenly Doctrines of the New Jerusalem andremonstrating their reasonableness, their al1-round usefulness, and their relevance to theproblems of all manner of ordinary people. \nI have every confidence that the New Churchcause will prosper in Brightlingsea and I commendthis Souvenir Booklet issued on the occasion ofthe centenary anniversary of the opening of thechurch in Queen Street on Thursday,April 16,1868. \nHERBERT MONGREDIEN \nPresident of the General Conferenceof the New Church \nThe occasion of the 100th anniversary ofthe opening of our Queen Street Church is anobvious and appropriate opportunity on whichto look back over the 155 years during whicha New Church Society has existed in Bright-lingsea. \nWe assume that this publication will beof interest both to New Church men and womenfar and near, and to many local residents. \nDedicated to the memory of al1 thosepeople whose loyalty and enthusiasm estab-lished the New Church in Brightlingsea andbuilt the present church,we hope that thisbooklet will be seen as a worthy tribute totheir efforts. \nBRUCE JARVIS \nChairman \nCHRISTOPHER SKINNERSecretary \nCentenary of the Building Committee","cbCaimRzJ1Opcs2T","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaimRzJ1Opcs2T","pdf",2554309,62,"English","# NEW CHURCH, QUEEN STREET\n## FOREWORD\n## A DEDICATION\n## THANKS\n## CHURCH INTERIOR\n## CHAPTER ONE - EARLY DAYS (1809:1818)\n## CHAPTER TWO - GROWTH YEARS (1818:1863)\n## CHAPTER THREE - MOVE TO QUEEN STREET (1863:1873)\n## CHAPTER FOUR - UPS AND DOWNS (1873-1913)\n## CHAPTER FIVE - TWO CENTENARIES (1913:1968)","[{\"question\":\"What time period does the history cover?\",\"answer\":\"The document spans from 1813 to 1968, presented as the Society’s historical record over that full range.\"},{\"question\":\"Why was this booklet issued?\",\"answer\":\"It was issued on the occasion of the centenary anniversary of the opening of the church in Queen Street, dated Thursday, April 16, 1868.\"},{\"question\":\"Who wrote the foreword and what is its purpose?\",\"answer\":\"Herbert Mongredien, President of the General Conference of the New Church, and the centenary committee leadership acknowledge the publication and provide context for reflecting on the Society’s 155-year history and future aims.\"}]","BRIGHTLINGSEA SOCIETY of the NEW CHURCH - A HISTORY - 1813-1968 | PDF",1790640411,95]
