In Acts 13, we learn that there were prophets and teachers in the church in Antioch. While the church was fasting and praying, they heard the Holy Spirit’s calling to set apart Barnabas and Saul—also called Paul—for a special work, and then the church sent the men on their way. In Acts 14, Barnabas and Saul return from their mission of spreading the good news to encourage the church at Antioch and to share all that God had done through them. The lesson from Luke tells the story of Jesus sending out the twelve disciples to proclaim the kingdom of God. Through each of these stories, the church today is invited to consider our calling to spread the message of Christ in the world. \nGathering \nOpening Voluntary \nLamento (Suite) Denis Bedard \n(b. 1950) \nGreeting and Call to Worship \n*Processional Hymn 417 \nO For a Heart to Praise My God richmond \n*Prayer of Confession and Words of Assurance | In unison: \nMerciful God, we confess that we have sinned in word and deed, by what we have done and what we have left undone. We have withheld our treasures, been slow to welcome those we see as outsiders, resisted your transformation, and refused the leading of your Spirit. We repent and turn to you. For the sake of the Holy and Righteous One, your Son Jesus, have mercy on us. Forgive our sins and renew us by your Spirit. Amen. \nThe minister speaks words of assurance. \n*Peace | All exchange signs and words of God’s peace. \nMinister: The peace of Christ be with you. \nPeople: And also with you. \nProclamation \nPrayer for Illumination | In unison: \nEternal God, comforter of the afflicted and healer of the broken, send your Holy Spirit to illuminate your holy word; through Jesus Christ our \nLord. We believe God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and that Jesus went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed. We believe Jesus was put to death by hanging on a tree, but that God raised him on the third day and allowed him to appear to those who were chosen by God as witnesses. We believe Jesus is the Lord of all and is the one ordained by God as judge of the living and the dead, and that all the prophets have testified about Jesus that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name. \n—Adapted from Acts 10:34–43 \nCall to Prayer \nMinister: The Lord be with you. \nPeople: And also with you. \nMinister: Let us pray. \nPrayers of the People | The congregation responds to each petition: \nPeople: Hear our prayer. \nOffertory Anthem \nDay By Day, Dear Lord Martin How \n(b. 1931) \nDay by day, dear Lord, of thee three things I pray: \nto see thee more clearly, love thee more dearly, \nfollow thee more nearly, day by day. \n—Richard of Chicester (1197–1253) \n*Doxology lasst un","cbCainuHo3xg1cpu","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCainuHo3xg1cpu","pdf",940979,"English","# Gathering\n## Opening Voluntary\n## Greeting and Call to Worship\n## Proclamation\n## Prayer for Illumination\n## First Lesson (Acts 13:1–3)\n## Second Lesson (Acts 14:21–28)\n## Gradual Music\n## Gospel Lesson (Luke 9:1–6)\n# Sermon and Response\n## Sermon\n## Response\n## Affirmation of Faith\n## Call to Prayer\n## Prayers of the People\n## Offertory Anthem\n## Thanksgiving\n## The Lord’s Prayer\n# Sending Forth\n## Benediction\n## Closing Hymn\n## Closing Voluntary","[{\"question\":\"What scripture passages guide the worship service on July 10, 2022?\",\"answer\":\"The service uses Acts 13:1–3 and Acts 14:21–28, with a Gospel lesson from Luke 9:1–6.\"},{\"question\":\"What is the sermon topic for this Sunday?\",\"answer\":\"The sermon is titled “Prophesying and Teaching Then \\u0026 Now: From and To Every Nation Under Heaven.”\"},{\"question\":\"How does the service include worship and congregational participation?\",\"answer\":\"It includes confession and assurance, a peace exchange, hymns, prayers of the people with congregational responses, an affirmation of faith, and the Lord’s Prayer.\"}]","Bridging Faith & Learning - Service of Worship Fifth Sunday after Pentecost Sunday July 10, 2022 | PDF"]
