At Lakeland Records, Ben reconnects with Troy, whose humor, comic-book obsession, and musical knowledge help puncture Ben’s stagnation. Through their early-morning banter and the record shop’s vibrant atmosphere, personal discontent and longing for connection surface, setting the stage for unfolding chapter-by-chapter developments.","BREAKING THE RECORD \nRALEIGH RUEBINS \nOCEANOFPDF. His truck shuddered down the long two-lane road, surrounded by grass on either side. Bright light spread over the green hills, thawing out the chill of the morning. A little handwritten sign reading “sweet corn, this way” with an arrow pointing toward a farm would soon be packed up, stowed away for the long winter ahead. \nThis was what most of Welling, New York was like. It didn’t have a big downtown, but the college was there, which offered something more active and bustling than anywhere else within miles. Welling was disproportionately full of students, professors, and researchers. \nBen was acutely aware that he no longer fell into any of those categories. \nWhen he was a student, it had all been easy. Kickbacks, beers, and football. \nNow it was all aimless. \nAs he approached town, he held out hope that getting back to some form of civilization would melt away the boring weekend he’d had. Another weekend alone, with more jerk-off sessions than he’d like to admit. The activity of the town was a much-needed distraction, something that the isolation of his house couldn’t provide. \nA few minutes later he was in the world of streetlights and traffic again, and he pulled his truck into the lot behind Lakeland Records. He paused for a moment before finally removing the keys. The truck trembled to a stop. The Beast, as he called it, probably only has a few years of life left. It had belonged to Ben’s dad in a past life. \nHe slid out of the driver’s side and walked to the nondescript black door at the back of the record shop. \nThe key met no resistance, and Ben swung the already unlocked door open into the back office of the shop. \n“Mornin’, Ben,” a voice came from the front part of the store.“Hey Troy,” Ben called out.“The hell you doing here so early? It was hard enough for me to drag myself out of bed this morning, and you’re usually worse than me.” \nHe dropped his backpack in the back office and made his way into the main part of the store. \nLakeland Records was a small, quaint record shop, packed wall-towall with vinyl records, CD’s, even some cassettes, T-shirts, and posters. It was colorful, storied, vibrant—the kind of record shop that was rarely seen anymore, as most people had long since replaced buying physical albums with just streaming music onto their phones. But it felt like the shop had been around forever. Lakeland Records was a second home to Ben. \nHe saw Troy organizing a recent shipment of albums, behind the long, worn wooden counter that held the cash register. He’d lit a candle up front, and its soft, woodsy smell filled the room, covering up the worn plastic smell of the vinyl. An album of Troy’s choosing played soft through the s","cbCaic72yC2EVFR6","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaic72yC2EVFR6","pdf",3076343,8,260,"English","en",105,"# Contents\n## Chapter 1\n## Chapter 2\n## Chapter 3\n## Chapter 4\n## Chapter 5\n## Chapter 6\n## Chapter 7\n## Chapter 8\n## Chapter 9\n## Chapter 10\n## Chapter 11\n## Chapter 12\n## Chapter 13\n## Chapter 14\n## Chapter 15\n## Chapter 16\n## Chapter 17\n## Chapter 18\n## Chapter 19\n## Chapter 20\n## Chapter 21\n## Chapter 22\n## Chapter 23\n## Chapter 24\n## Chapter 25\n## Chapter 26\n## Chapter 27\n## Chapter 28\n## Epilogue","[{\"question\":\"Who are the main characters introduced at the start of the story?\",\"answer\":\"The opening introduces Ben and Troy, set in Ben’s small town and at Lakeland Records.
