\nHealthy Snack Ideas to Fuel Your Day! \n1 sliced apple with 1-2 \nTablespoons of peanut butter \n5oz of Greek yogurt with 1/4 cup of granola & raspberries \n1 serving of plain popcorn \n1 cup of fresh blueberries with 1/4 cup of dry roasted cashews \nCarrots & cucumbers with 1/4 cup of hummus \n1/2 avocado with 1 hard boiled egg \n3/4 cup of cottage cheese + 1 peach \n1/4 cup of homemade trail mix \nWhy Choose Dietitians?!? \nI always loved teaching nutrition to students at FSU at George Mason since it is a tangible science that they directly engage with daily. The beautiful thing about nutrition is that it can make or break your health and everyone can learn and interact with the basics of nutrition to improve their health-span. \nThe challenge with nutrition is the wide variety of opinions (some educated and some not) on how people should eat for health, vitality and basic human functioning. Weave in the fact that weight loss is a multibillion dollar industry you are going to have many people trying to get a cut of that pie. So, who is right and who is wrong? Who do you trust? Whose advice do you implement in your life? \nThe profession of Dietetics was formalized in the US in 1917 and the role of dietitians has evolved from solely being hospitalists who create clinical nutrition plans for patients to professionals who work in advocacy, education, community, clinical care and as solo providers. To become a dietitian you must obtain a both an undergraduate and masters degree in nutrition along with completing a 1000+ hours accredited internship and pass a national board exam. During the internship you gain exposure in multiple different nutrition fields including clinical care, community and government programs and, athletics. We dietitians have been educated and trained specifically to assist with helping clients make healthier food choices that align with health, aesthetic and athletic goals along with overcoming mental and physical barriers to change. We follow the scientific standards along with our experience we gain from working with individuals throughout the course of our careers. We are truly the experts in the field of nutrition and care about the health of our clients and our communities. \nPlease consider this when seeking care for your nutritional concerns. The designation of registered dietitian is not easily acquired and one that I am truly honored and proud to have held for fifteen years. Dietitians are here to help and have the knowledge and training to effectively do so. Please consider this when scouring the internet and social media for nutrition counseling which many preach without any training or working knowledge. March 13 is National Dietitian Day and March is National Nutrition month so honor our profession and optimize your health by meeting with a dietitian! You will never regret the knowledge and support gained from the experience! \n01/02 \nPRODUCE SPOTLIGHT: Blueberries \nI want to highlight my absolute favorite fruit, the amazing power packed blueberry! Why are blueberries so great? Not only are they delicious, low calorie and high fiber but they are also packed with antioxidants. One antioxidant called anthocyanin is particularly powerful in protecting cells in our brain, vascular system and heart from free radical damage. Blueberries are also high in vitamin C, vitamin K and potassium and due to their high fiber content they can assist with helping you feel fuller on less total calories. Blueberries are low glycemic which makes them a wonderful snack choice for diabetics. My favorite way to enjoy blueberries is either as a snack (paired with cashews as listed above) or on top of a salad or bowl of oatmeal. Blueberries are also a delicious add on to smoothies and yogurt bowls. However you enjoy them fresh, frozen or freeze-dried, I recommend adding these powerful berries to your daily dietary intake! \n","cbCairdV8zg1ngLR","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCairdV8zg1ngLR","pdf",5202785,"English","# National Nutrition Month\n## Snack like a Dietitian!\n# Why Choose Dietitians?!?\n# PRODUCE SPOTLIGHT: Blueberries\n# How to Meal Prep Salads with Mason Jars!\n## STEP 1-Dressing FIRST!\n## STEP 2-The first ingredients you add will sit in the dressing\n## STEP 3-Select your Protein!\n## STEP 4-Add toppings and seal the jar\n# Online Lecture Invitation","[{\"question\":\"What snack ideas are suggested for fueling your day in this newsletter?\",\"answer\":\"The newsletter lists several dietitian-style snack options, including sliced apple with peanut butter, Greek yogurt with granola and raspberries, plain popcorn, blueberries with cashews, hummus with carrots and cucumbers, and cottage cheese with peach.\"},{\"question\":\"What does the newsletter say about becoming a dietitian?\",\"answer\":\"It states that becoming a dietitian requires an undergraduate and masters degree in nutrition, completion of a 1000+ hour accredited internship, and passing a national board exam.\"},{\"question\":\"How do you assemble mason jar salads, according to the steps provided?\",\"answer\":\"It recommends dressing first in the jar, adding ingredients that marinate well, then selecting a protein for satiety, and finishing with toppings like cheese, nuts/seeds, and greens before sealing and refrigerating for 3–5 days.\"}]","BMA Nutrition Newsletter - March 2025 - National Nutrition Month - Snack like a Dietitian! | PDF",1790520938]
