The material reviews movement-skill classification, learner characteristics, and teaching/coaching approaches, then contrasts qualitative and quantitative movement analysis. It defines biomechanics and outlines its relevance to techniques, equipment design, injury causes, and disability movement. Key knowledge covers kinetic and kinematic concepts, equilibrium, levers, stability, and balance, while key skills emphasize video-based qualitative analysis and applying visual and graphical representations for coaching.",{"@graph":14,"@context":77},[15,34,56],{"@type":16,"itemListElement":17},"BreadcrumbList",[18,23,27,31],{"item":19,"name":20,"@type":21,"position":22},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",1,{"item":24,"name":25,"@type":21,"position":26},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/","Document",2,{"item":28,"name":29,"@type":21,"position":30},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/exam/","Exam",3,{"item":32,"name":10,"@type":21,"position":33},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/biomechanics-in-vcaa-physical-education-study-design-key-knowledge-and-skills/315945/",4,{"url":32,"name":10,"@type":35,"image":36,"author":41,"headline":10,"publisher":44,"fileFormat":47,"inLanguage":8,"description":12,"dateModified":48,"datePublished":49,"encodingFormat":47,"isAccessibleForFree":50,"interactionStatistic":51},"DigitalDocument",{"url":37,"@type":38,"width":39,"height":40},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/biomechanics-in-vcaa-physical-education-study-design-key-knowledge-and-skills/315945.png","ImageObject",300,407,{"name":42,"@type":43},"Mack – Setting the scene \nArea of Study 1 looks at how movement skills can be improved. The first part of this area of study looked at; \n• How skill and movement can be classified. \n• Understanding the characteristics different learners exhibit and the teaching/coaching implications for each learner. \n• The direct and constraints based approaches that can be used when working with different learners. \n• Qualitative movement analysis process. \nTo further understand how movement skills are produced the study of biomechanical principles, derived from quantitative movement analysis (in addition to qualitative) is vital in improving the efficiency and quality of movement. \nBiomechanics is the field of sports science that applies the laws of mechanics and physics to human performance in order to gain a greater understanding of performance in physical activity. It is the study of forces and the effect of those forces on and within the human body. \nThe field of biomechanics has helped define; \n• Movement techniques (Sprinters technique, kicking technique) \n• Equipment design (F1 car, Golf club design) \n• Causes of injury (Overuse, or poor technique) \n• Improving movement of people with disability. \nHowever, what do we need to focus on in our VCAA study design with regards to Biomechanics? \nOur focus is on how Biomechanical principles can be used to improve movement skills in sport and physical activity. \nKEY KNOWLEDGE \n• Angular and linear kinetic concepts of human movement: Newton’s three laws of motion, inertia, mass, force, momentum and impulse \n• Angular and linear kinematic concepts of human movement: distance, displacement, speed, velocity, acceleration and projectile motion (height, angle and speed of release) \n• Equilibrium and human movement: levers (force, axis, resistance and the mechanical advantage of anatomical levers), stability and balance (centre of gravity, base of support and line of gravity) . \nKEY SKILLS \n- Perform a qualitative analysis of a movement skill using video and systematic observation to analyse and improve a variety of movement skills \n- Analyse, interpret and apply graphical, visual and physical representations of biomechanical principles to improve movement skills in a coaching context \n[http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/Documents/vce/physicaledu/PhysicalEducationSD_2017.pdf](http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/Documents/vce/physicaledu/PhysicalEducationSD_2017.pdf) \nKinematics – The motion of bodies/objects without reference to the forces that caused the motion. \nKinetics – The motion of \nbodies/objects and the forces and energies associated with causing the motion. \nm. Therefore , both are equally important. \nA sprinter – Receiving qualitative and quantitative assessment \nQualitative assessment \nSlow out of the block’s as your weight was not far enough forward in the blocks. \nQuantitative assessment \nYour 90degree angle of your front leg allowed you to remain balanced and led to your 2.2second split time over the first 10m. \n[http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2UZQfQVzv6E/VXIuIU3qXtI/AAAAAAAAACY/lwgmW2j3HXY/s1600/b.jpg](http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2UZQfQVzv6E/VXIuIU3qXtI/AAAAAAAAACY/lwgmW2j3HXY/s1600/b.jpg) \n[https://www.goog","cbCaipJQFwqXMPEW","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaipJQFwqXMPEW","pdf",1038473,22,"English","# Area of Study 1: Movement skills\n## Classification and learner differences\n## Qualitative and quantitative movement analysis\n## Biomechanics fundamentals\n## Using biomechanical principles in sport\n## Key knowledge: kinetic and kinematic concepts\n## Key skills: analysis and coaching application","[{\"question\":\"What is the aim of the study design regarding biomechanics?\",\"answer\":\"It focuses on applying biomechanical principles to improve movement skills in sport and physical activity.\"},{\"question\":\"How do qualitative and quantitative movement analyses differ?\",\"answer\":\"Qualitative assessment mainly provides feedback to the performer, while quantitative biomechanical analysis produces data that supplements these assessments.\"},{\"question\":\"What key knowledge topics are included in the biomechanics section?\",\"answer\":\"Topics include kinetic concepts (Newton’s laws, inertia, mass, force, momentum, impulse), kinematic concepts (distance, displacement, speed, velocity, acceleration, projectile motion), and equilibrium (levers, stability, balance, centre of gravity and base of support).\"},{\"question\":\"Which key skills are emphasized for students?\",\"answer\":\"Students must perform qualitative video-based analysis using systematic observation, and analyze, interpret, and apply graphical, visual, and physical representations of biomechanical principles in coaching contexts.\"}]","Biomechanics in VCAA Physical Education Study Design - Key Knowledge and Skills | PDF",1789908366,55]
