It outlines vegetative versus reproductive parts and summarizes major classification bases, including stem type, life span, and flowering or fruiting frequency. The article then details morphology of the root, its functional orientations, and the four major root zones, emphasizing differentiation/maturation and meristematic cell formation.","Disclaimer : The content available in MTG digital/physical books is intellectual property of MTG Learning Media Pvt Ltd. Plant axis is differentiated into an underground root system and an above-ground shoot system. \n• Flowering plants contain vegetative parts (i.e., root, stem and leaves) and reproductive parts,(i.e., flowers, fruits and seeds) . \n• Plants can be classified on the basis of height and nature \nof stem (herbs, shrubs, and trees), life span (annuals, biennials and perennials) and frequency of flowering or fruiting (monocarpic and polycarpic) . \nMORPHOLOGY OF ROOT \n• The root is typically a non-green, underground, descending portion of the plant axis which gives rise to similar types of endogenous lateral branches and does not possess nodes and internodes. They are positively geotropic, positively hydrotropic and negatively phototropic. \n• A typical root consists of four major zones : \nZone of differentiation/maturation \nCells in this region are differentiated into permanent tissues (viz. xylem, phloem, pericycle, endodermis, cortex, etc.) depending upon the ","cbCaiafcp0LGdkI4","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiafcp0LGdkI4","pdf",46807164,1,101,"English","en",105,"# Plant morphology\n## Flowering plant structure and classification\n# Morphology of Root\n## Root definition and orientations\n## Four major root zones","[{\"question\":\"What does plant morphology cover in this article?\",\"answer\":\"Plant morphology is presented as the botany branch dealing with the forms and features of plant organs such as roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits, and seeds.\"},{\"question\":\"How is the plant axis organized in flowering plants?\",\"answer\":\"In flowering plants, the plant axis differentiates into an underground root system and an above-ground shoot system bearing lateral appendages.\"},{\"question\":\"What are the four major zones of a typical root?\",\"answer\":\"The four zones described are the zone of differentiation/maturation and the zone of cell formation (meristematic zone), with the article also referencing other key zones within a typical root structure.\"}]","Biology Today -
