It is a lab-oriented course which emphasizes structure and function, growth and development, cells, tissues and organs, nucleic acids and genetics, biological evolution, taxonomy, and the relationships between living things and the environment. You will have a link in google classroom to myschoology Biology class page (classwork, exams, etc. will be here) . We will also have a new site-MINDTAP from National Geographic along with our new book. \nThis is a 2-semester class and the areas we will cover include the following: \nBelow is a general guideline of the Year and order we will follow. Students in this class are expected to act maturely in dealing with such material. Dissection will be used as a teaching tool in Biology, and you will be notified ahead of time to facilitate bringing close-toed shoes and cover clothing if needed. \nASSIGNMENTS: Assignments are to be completed by the beginning of the class period on the due date. I will not accept late work! The majority of homework will be based on a 100-point scale. \nANSWERS: Answers on homework, quizzes, tests, labs, etc. must be thorough and completely answer the question before credit will be given. Numerical answers must always contain at least 2 places after the decimal. You are expected to show all work on any assigned problems. Correct spelling will be required in order for students to receive credit for answers. \nTESTS: Tests will be thorough and if you wait until the end of the unit to begin studying, you will not accomplish all you are capable of doing. I will usually give you a week's notice before a test and we will often have a review session during Study Hall or class time the day before the test. Tests may be graded on a \"curve\" to the highest score but don’t count on that every time. You will be allowed to use your calculator on a test, but you may not share calculators with a neighbor! \nQUIZZES: Quizzes may be a 100-point scale and may be announced OR unannounced. \nLABS: Labs are designed to provide you with an opportunity to apply what you have learned in class. You are required to always follow laboratory rules. Failure to do so may result in the loss of lab privileges. Lab work is usually completed in pairs. \nGrade","cbCaie3RIaSdmcOz","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaie3RIaSdmcOz","pdf",462121,12,"English","# Course Description\n# Semester Plan and 6-Week Units\n# Class Material and Safety\n# Assignments, Answers, and Test Policies\n# Quizzes, Labs, and Grading Guidelines","[{\"question\":\"What topics does the Biology course cover?\",\"answer\":\"The course studies living things with emphasis on structure and function, growth and development, cells and tissues, nucleic acids and genetics, biological evolution, taxonomy, and relationships to the environment.\"},{\"question\":\"How are students expected to complete assignments and homework?\",\"answer\":\"Assignments must be completed by the beginning of class on the due date, late work is not accepted, and answers must be thorough and completely address the question.
