It outlines the typical path from initial inspiration—often sparked by social media—toward preparing for a first bikini competition, emphasizing self-awareness, a clear “why,” and consistent willpower across cardio, meal prep, and posing practice. We moved to Houston, Texas and expected it to be like in the movies with lots of horses, tumbleweeds, and handsome cowboys. But to my surprise, Houston was a bustling diverse city filled with people from all around the world. \nLife in Houston took some getting used to. In addition to literally being on the opposite side of the planet, Texas couldn’t be more different to my hometown of Taganrog, Russia. One thing that stayed the same forme was martial arts training. I found a great Tae Kwon Do academy in Houston so that I could continue with the training I started in Russia. It was the only thing that felt normal in a new country where I could barely communicate with those around me. \nOne day, in true Russian fashion, my mom said “Tatiana, you need to hit the gym.” This was quite a wake-up call for me, especially coming from my mother. But after my first workout, I fell in love. I really enjoyed this new type of training and my body responded quickly. \nA few months later, a personal trainer approached me and asked if I had ever competed. I immediately started talking about Tae Kwon Do. He explained that he was referring to bodybuilding, and I was completely unfamiliar with it. So, I went home, did some research, and found the next bodybuilding competition in my area. It was great. I immediately envisioned myself on the stage just like the other athletes. And, soon I was there. \nFitness became my passion. I studied nutrition in college, became an NASM Certified Personal Trainer, as well as an NASM Certified Nutrition Coach, and began my career in bodybuilding – ultimately becoming an IFBB professional. \nAnd, now I get to share my passion and pass along my knowledge and experience. I really enjoy helping others discover the benefits of living a healthy and fit lifestyle. \nBikini Mania 2 \nIntroduction \nMost women become interested in bikini athletics because they know a competitor or caught a glimpse of someone with that perfect bikini physique on Instagram. \nLord knows there is no shortage of bikini competitors, experts, and influencers on social media. No matter what ignites that initial spark of inspiration, it always leads to the same question: how on earth do you get started? \nIf you find yourself asking this, you have come to the right place. This book will cover the basics and get you off to a quick start. \nBefore we get stuck into this, know that the journey to your first bikini competition can be quite challenging. So, I always recommend getting in touch with your“why.” Without some self-reflection and a healthy dose of self-motivation, I would not bother getting started. \nThe answer to this question is incredibly varied. Some have a competitive drive and want to see how they stack up. Others fixate on a goal that spurs them on to their highest level of physical fitness. I am a combination of the two. Years ofTai Kwon Do have given me a constant yearning for competition, and an intermediate-term goal like getting on stage gives me some added motivation. \nWhatever your reason, make sure its strong enough to get you through months of competition prep. Early morning cardio sessions, weekly meal prep, missing out on social gatherings, not to mention skipping dessert, all require healthy servings of willpower. However, competing can be a confidence booster, a way to make sure you are continuing to get into better and better shape, and a way to challenge yourself regularly. You can start with local competitions, and then make your way upward to the national stage. Ultimately, you can turn pro and compete at the highest levels at the IFBB Olympia or WBFF Worlds competition. \nBut you need to make sure you are ready. \nBikini Mania 3 \nBikini Mania 4 \nAs excited as you might be right now to stand in the spotlight, it is essential to realize that you probably aren’t ready yet.
