The excerpt opens on Wednesday, April 21, 1993 at 11:43 pm, following Henry Gorman as he drives himself home from the Dog Pound Saloon in Big Horn, Wyoming. Henry’s judgment is impaired despite sobriety clarifications, and the scene links his situation to other local misadventures before the story turns toward dread and escalating consequences.","BIG HORN \nOCEANOFPDF.COM \n[OceanofPDF.com](OceanofPDF.com) \nJEFF SHUCARD \nOCEANOFPDF.COM \nCOPYRIGHT © 2025 JEFFREY SHUCARD \nAll rights reserved \nThis book is a work of fiction . Drunks, of course, are not known for their good judgment, but this was neither here nor therein Henry’s case as his judgment didn’t necessarily improve much under the clarifying influence of sobriety. Then again, Henry was not alone in leaving the Pound inebriated that night. In another hour or so at closing time some thirty other certified local tokers, coke heads and worse would be on their way to their vehicles, setting off on their own habitual misadventures. Driving home dead drunk from the Pound, you might say, was just a way of knowing you’d had a great night out. It wasn’t that long ago that Dog Pound habitue Patty Hagman took out the Trail General Store’s two gas pumps with her tank of a Chrysler, then continued right through the store’s front wall before mercifully coming to a halt, inches from the beer coolers. It’s said that she calmly got out of the car, opened a cooler door, and helped herself to a nightcap of Coors Light before staggering the rest of the way home on foot. \nCompared to Patty, Henry’s insignificant little accident was hardly worth mentioning but for its tragic consequences. He did just fine getting out the door of the Pound, finding his rig around the back, and climbing up behind the steering wheel. \nThen it hit him. The dreaded whirlybirds. He sighed heavily, leaned forward, and rested his forehead against his hands gripping the steering wheel. Even with his eyes closed his brain spun like a pinwheel in a maelstrom. \n“Fuck this,” he moaned. Getting sloshed was not at all what he’d intended, but the journey from what we intend to what we actually do can","cbCaikmZCLh1JIU4","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaikmZCLh1JIU4","pdf",1438603,8,225,"English","en",105,"# Contents\n## Wednesday, April 21, 1993\n## Thursday, April 22\n## Friday, April 23\n## Saturday, April 24\n## Sunday, April 25\n## Monday, April 26\n## Tuesday, April 27\n## Wednesday, April 28\n## Thursday, April 29\n## Friday, April 30\n## Saturday, May 1\n## Sunday, May 2\n## Monday, May 3\n## Wednesday, May 5\n## Friday, May 7\n## Saturday, May 8\n## Sunday, May 9\n## CODA -
