It is absolutely fabulous to have our students back on campus. The phased-in returns were incredibly successful and allowed us to better support our youngest children. However, by their second day, they were telling us that they had it all figured out and didn’t need our help 􀀭 \nThere are so many people who contributed to making reopening such a success. Our teachers worked very hard preparing their classrooms and creating videos/slides for you to learn about their specific procedures and processes. Mr. Mario, our custodian, laid decals, spray painted and put up signage to ensure our campus was safe and that students had markers to help them find their way. Mrs. Hung and Ms. Susie collaborated with families so that everyone felt prepared for the return and Mrs. Contreras organized the gate monitors and provided tech support to parents needing assistance at arrivals and dismissals. Then there was all of you without your support, our reopening would not have been nearly as successful. By downloading the Frontline and Pikmykids apps ahead of time, you made it so that the arrivals and dismissals were as quick and seamless as possible. Thank you! \nI’m so excited to announce that staff has chosen \nMrs. Limnios as the 2020-21 CVE Teacher of the year! Mrs. Limnios began her teaching career at CVE 21 years ago and has been with us ever since. She has taught first and second grades and has been in kindergarten for the past 12 years. During this time, she has also served on many site and district leadership committees. We are very \nlucky to have Mrs. Limnios as part of our CVE family. \nOur PBIS team has created a Bear Code Matrix for Hybrid Learning. Please click here \nto see how we’ve combined our BEAR Code (Be Safe, Engage in Learning, Act Responsibly, Respect Yourself and Others) behavioral expectations with COVID safety protocols. \nCAASPP testing begins the week of April 19th for our 3rd-5th grade students. If you would like to exempt your child from taking the mandated state tests, please send me an email or signed letter by Monday, April 12. We highly recommend that students take the tests as we receive valuable data about each student from the results. Because the test must be administered using a secure test browser, students will need to use district-issued Chromebooks for the CAASPP assessments. If your child doesn’t have a district Chromebook, please notify the office ASAP so we can get you one. \nWe have a longer than normal Spring Break this school year. It runs April 1-11 and students return Monday, April 12. I hope you are able to have a fun, relaxing well-deserved break! \nWarmly, \nMrs. Sklut Principal \nCastro Valley Elementary \nBear Facts \nCastro Valley Elementary appreciates the dedication of our School Board Trustee Members: \nGary Howard, Dot Theodore, Lavender Lee Whitaker, Dolly Adams, Michael Kusiak, and Parvin Ahmadi, Superintendent Parents and guardians are welcome at School Board meetings.
