Even though the weather was lovely, a warm early summer day, she still felt every single bump in the air along the way. It was a necessary evil, though—Marigold’s airport was just as small as the plane was, so she wasn’t expecting a smooth ride like she would have on a big jet. \nThe pilot’s voice crackled over the speaker.“Welcome to Marigold Island. Hang tight for a bit with your seatbelts fastened, folks.” \n“Well, there’s not much else we can do, is there?” The older woman sitting next to Grace chuckled as she spoke. \n“Nope.” Grace sighed, restlessness making her shift in her seat as she looked out the small window. She could see the rich blue waters not too far off in the distance, the heat coming up in waves from the concrete between her and the ocean. It had been a long time since she’d been back to Marigold, but so far, it looked nearly the same as it had when she’d been a teenager. \n“What brings you to the island?” the woman beside her asked. \n“I’m returning home, more or less. I used to live here when I was growing up. My family—well, my dad and I, since my mom passed when I was young—moved away when I was eighteen,” Grace said.“And I went off to college, then started my career as a photographer, so I never really had a reason to come visit until now.” \n“Did someone in your family move back here?” \n“Ah, not really.” Grace played with the end of her dark ponytail.“I’m just visiting to see some friends who recently moved back to the island. My \nfather passed away not too long ago, and I need a break to figure out what to do with my life.” \n“I’m so sorry, honey,” the woman said. Something about her expression made the words truly touch Grace’s heart. \n“Thank you.” Grace smiled gently, looking down at her hands. “I was his full-time caretaker for a long time, since he had early onset dementia. If there’s any small silver lining, it’s that I was there for him to the end.” \n“You’re a good daughter.” \nGrace thanked the woman again, a familiar sad ache filling her chest. She was an only child, so it had been just her and her dad ever since she was a little girl. Seeing him slowly slip away mentally and emotionally while still being physically present was one of the hardest things she’d ever had to deal with, but now she hoped he was at peace wherever he was. \nShe’d brought his ashes with her, since Marigold had always been oneof his favorite places. All of the reading she had done on properly grieving had helped to some degree, but she hoped that finding the perfec","cbCair9Lly4xFSwV","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCair9Lly4xFSwV","pdf",1031830,9,160,"English","en",105,"# Chapter 1\n## Grace’s arrival at Marigold Island\n## Conversations on the plane\n## Returning home and carrying her father’s ashes\n## Driving toward the Beachside Inn","[{\"question\":\"Why does Grace Nelson return to Marigold Island?\",\"answer\":\"She returns to see friends who moved back to the island and to take a break after her father’s recent passing.
