Thank you! |\n\n5-day Lesson Plan Outline \nPlease note that this is a SUGGESTED lesson plan outline. \nPlease adjust as you see fit for your child( ren) . \nDay 1: Who’s on Base? \n• Sort word cards from pg. 7 by double and no change to base word \n• Introduce “rule” for doubling (single short vowel, single consonant atthe end of the base word) and no change of base words (either long vowel with two vowels or single vowel with TWO consonants already at the end of the base word) \n• Follow directions on pg. 3 \nDay 2: Who’s on Base? \n• Look at patterns in word cards from pg. 8 \n• Talk about the “rule” for e-drop (base word had a silent e that was dropped before the –ing or the –ed was added) \n• Follow directions on pg. 3 \nDay 3: Run the Bases File Folder Game \n• Use word cards from pg. 7, review “rules” for doubling and no change to base word \n• play Run the Bases together \nDay 4: Run the Bases File Fold Game \n• Use word cards from pg. 7 and 8 to play Run the Bases together \nDay 5: Get on Base! \nApply it to real reading. Get out books your child can read with independence. Look for words that have –ing and –ed. Record the word in the left column and write the base word in the right column. \nBase Word Pack \n©2014 All Rights Reserved. \n[www.thisreadingmama.com](www.thisreadingmama.com) \nWho’s on Base? \nDirections: Place one word card from the game at a time into the top box. Find the base word in the word and write in in the bottom box. \nword card \nWrite the base word. \n©2014 All Rights Reserved. \n[www.thisreadingmama.com](www.thisreadingmama.com) \nRun the Bases \nA Game of Base Words \nTo Prepare: \n• Print game board pieces onto paper. Glue into a file folder or 11x14 piece of construction paper side-by-side. \n• Print off game cards onto cardstock and laminate for durability. \n• Use a large paper clip and pencil for the spinner. \n• Place cards face down in the pile. \nTo Play: (for 2-4 players) \n• When it is a player’s turn, he spins a paper clip on the spinner. \n• If a player lands on One Base, Two Bases, Three Bases or Run Home!, the player picks a card from the stack. The player locatesand spells the base word from the card then reads the entire word. In some cases, a silent e will need to be added back to the base word (like in write) . If the player is able to locate/spell the base word and read the entire word, he or she can move as indicated in his spin. Players take turns in this fashion. (If a player is on third base and spins “two bases”, players can decide if he just runs home or if he can score a run, then also go to first base in the same turn.) \n• If a player lands on Strike Out!, that player loses his turn. \n• Players can keep score on a scrap piece of paper or dry erase board. \n• The game is over after a certain amount of time (decided before play) . Players can also decide ahead of time that the first person to score 10 runs (or 20 runs, etc.) is the winner. \n©2014 All Rig","cbCaith5lceMl1xv","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaith5lceMl1xv","pdf",1123228,"English","# Day 1: Who’s on Base?\n# Day 2: Who’s on Base?\n# Day 3: Run the Bases File Folder Game\n# Day 4: Run the Bases File Fold Game\n# Day 5: Get on Base!
