As such, Seva Foundation partnered with both not-for-profit organizations and government institutions in Bangladesh to address the eye care needs of vulnerable populations. In the last few years, Seva has worked with eleven partner eye hospitalsand supported the establishment of 37 Vision centers in seven divisions of Bangladesh. \nSeva Foundation’s work in Bangladesh began in 2005 at the request of Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus and has since evolved into a transformative partnership. The partner network of Eye Hospitals offers affordable, high-quality care using a cross-subsidy model that ensures access for the poor. Seva has expanded its impact through pediatric units, vision centers, school screenings, and national emergency responses—most recently mobilizing surgical teams to treat victims of vision trauma following civil unrest. Today, Seva and its partners reach hundreds of thousands annually, building a sustainable and equitable eye care system across Bangladesh. \nThrough Seva’s support, all our partners hospitals in Bangladesh provide free and subsidized surgeries to patients every year. This support is extended to tertiary and Secondary Eye Hospitals in 6 out of the 8 divisions of Bangladesh, namely Barishal, Dhaka, Khulna, Mymensigh, Bogura and Rangpur . \nSeva’s has supported the establishment of a Pediatric department at the Barishal and Bogura Hospitals that started providing services. This pediatric unit at the hospital is expected to provide services to more than 50,000 patients through eye care treatment, surgeries, and provision of spectacles. This child friendly pediatric unit conducts pediatric surgeries, providing spectaclesand medicines at subsidized prices/free of cost to poor children who need treatment.
