The analysis covers national, provincial (Catamarca, Jujuy, Salta), and sectoral impacts with a 35-sector MRIO model calibrated to 2017 data and a satellite account of employment. Three prospective scenarios for 2022, 2025, and 2030 are simulated, showing positive net effects across production, GDP, employment, tax revenue, and exports, with spillovers increasing under more ambitious development.","Pub lic Disclosure Authorized Pub lic Disclosure Authorized Pub lic Disclosure Authorized Pub lic Disclosure Authorized \nBACKGROUND NOTE 7. Measuring the potential impact of developing the lithium value chain in Argentina: a multiregional Input-Output analysis \nPrepared by Martín Obaya (CENIT-EEYN-UNSAM), M. Priscila Ramos (MESi-IIEP) and Carlos A. \nRomero (MESi-IIEP) \nResearch assistants: Pablo Bertin (MESi-IIEP) and Juan Mercatante (MESi-IIEP) \nWorld Bank coordination: Julie Rozenberg and Mariana Conte Grand \nArgentina has a privileged situation for the Lithium Value Chain (LVC) development since it accounts for 22 percent of worldwide lithium resources and a great number of exploration projects in lithium extraction concentrated in three provinces: Catamarca, Jujuy, and Salta. Nevertheless, LVC is not only lithium primary activity but also it adds midstream and downstream activities, such as the production of lithium cells and battery packs, which are finally demanded by the production of electric vehicles and for renewable energy storage. The objective of this report is to present and analyze the potential quantitative socioeconomic impacts of the development of the LVC in Argentina at national, regional, and sectoral level. To address this purpose, we have built a multi-sectoral (35 sectors) and multiregional (3 provinces and the rest of the country) Input-Output (MRIO) matrix with its associated Satellite Account of Employment (SAE) for 2017. The construction of a MRIO matrix requires national and sec","cbCaiuAL3HJfClDc","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiuAL3HJfClDc","pdf",3879281,5,1,64,"English","en",105,"# Introduction\n# Lithium value chain in Argentina\n# Methodology and data sources\n## Argentina 2017 MRIO matrix with the LVC: data sources and treatments\n## MRIO model for Lithium simulations\n# Design of lithium value chain scenarios\n## Lithium extraction and compounds production\n# Analysis of the development of LVC simulations\n## Conservative vs. moderate & optimistic LVC scenarios impacts in 2022\n## Comparison of the three LVC scenarios impacts in 2025 and 2030\n# Final remarks\n# References\n# Appendix 1.
