Capillary rapid testing identified hepatitis B–positive individuals, with confirmation of HBsAg and further evaluation using hematology, biochemistry, viral serologies, viral quantification, ultrasound, and elastography. Among positives, a detailed profile is reported including HBeAg status, PCR-detectable HBV DNA levels, elastography thresholds, and criteria-based treatment and follow-up indications, concluding with Paraguay \nIntroduction and Objectives: Paraguay is considered a country with a low incidence of hepatitis B hepatitis. \nThe inhabitants of two Ach-Guarani communities in Paraguay have a higher rate of hepatitis B than the rest ofthe Paraguayan population. \nDetermine the characteristics of hepatitis B in these communities to determine treatment and control needs. \nMaterials and Methods: In the joint working group between the Ministry of Health and the Faculty of Medicine of the National University of Asuncin, patients who were positive for the rapid hepatitis B test were studied, through: medical history, physical examination, anthropometry, hematology laboratory, biochemistry, viral serologies of hepatitis, viral quantification, ultrasound and elastography. \nResults: Rapid test for hepatitis B in capillary blood: 562 people Positive rapid test 36/562 (6.4%), with corroboration of HBsAg in \nvenous blood. Gender: 50% male Mean age: 39.7 years (range 29-57). \nTransaminases > maximum normal value 12/34 (35%) HBeAg (-) yantiHBe (+): 18/18 (100%) \nPCR-detectable HBV DNA: 35/35 patients DNA VHB > 2000 gt; 2000 UI/mL 13/35 (37%) DNA VHB > 20,000 UI/mL 1/35 (3%) \nElastography > 7kpa 10/33 (30%) (Bidimensional Shear Wave Elastography 􀀕 2D SWE) Elastography 8kpa: 4/33 (12%) (2D SWE) \nIndication to start treatment: 5/33 (15%) (EASL 2025 criteria) Indication for follow-up: 28/33 (85%) (EASL 2025 criteria) \nConclusions: These findings highlight the need to strengthen screening, monitoring, vaccination and access to treatment strategies in indigenous communities in Paraguay, within the framework of hepatitis B microelimination programs. \nConflict of interest: None \n[https://doi.org/10.1016/j.aohep.2026.102366](https://doi.org/10.1016/j.aohep.2026.102366) \n[\\#107-POINT-OF-CARE ULTRASOUND](#107-POINT-OF-CARE ULTRASOUND) ([POCUS](POCUS)) ASSESSMENT IN PATIENTS WITH DECOMPENSATED CIRRHOSIS RECEIVING ALBUMIN THERAPY \nDiana Tapia1, Juan Aldana1, Jos Velarde1, Roberto Gonzlez1, Ricardo Corona1, Edgar García1, Monserrat Lazcano1, Daniela Lagos1, Jos Velarde1 \n1 Department of Gastroenterology, Hospital Civil de Guadalajara, Fray Antonio Alcalde; Mxico \nIntroduction and Objectives: Patients with cirrhosis and ascites are at risk of both intravascular depletion and fluid overload, while clinical volume assessment remains inaccurate. Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) may improve characterization of volume status through evaluation of venous congestion and intravascular filling. To describe intravascular volume status assessed by multiorgan POCUS in patients with decompensated cirrhosis receiving intravenous albumin for AKI. \nMaterials and Methods: We conducted a case series including patients aged 18􀀕65 years with cirrhosis and stage 1BAKI requiring intravenous albumin. Multiorgan POCUS was performed before albumin administration and at 24 and 48 hours, including lung ultrasound, internal jugular vein(IJV)collapsibility, inferior vena cava assessment, and abdominal venous Doppler evaluation. Congestion was defined by 1 abnormal finding suggestive of pulmonary or venous congestion. Renal function, development of HRS-AKI, mortality, and albumin-related adverse events were recorded. \nResults: Nine patients with predominantly Child-Pugh C cirrhosis anda mean MELD score of 24.1 were include","cbCaiqlMr63V9qkc","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiqlMr63V9qkc","pdf",310969,"English","# Introduction and Objectives\n# Materials and Methods\n# Results\n# Conclusions","[{\"question\":\"Why was this hepatitis B study conducted in Paraguay?\",\"answer\":\"The study was conducted because Paraguay is generally considered to have low hepatitis B incidence, yet inhabitants of two Ach-Guarani communities showed higher hepatitis B rates than the rest of the population.\"},{\"question\":\"How were hepatitis B cases identified and evaluated?\",\"answer\":\"Participants were studied if they were positive on a rapid hepatitis B test, followed by medical history, physical examination, laboratory testing, viral serologies, viral quantification, and imaging including ultrasound and elastography.\"},{\"question\":\"What did the results suggest about treatment and follow-up needs?\",\"answer\":\"Findings indicated a need to strengthen screening, monitoring, vaccination, and access to treatment, with treatment and follow-up eligibility determined using EASL 2025 criteria.\"}]","B IN TWO ACHE-GUARANI COMMUNITIES IN PARAGUAY - Introduction and Objectives - Results | PDF",1790401032]
