The album moves from lush, energetic soundscapes to a metropolis and then into a post-apocalyptic future, reinforced by a 360° vision video concept. Tracks show stylistic touches ranging from funk-like influences to electronic elements, while listeners weigh a mixed overall impact. Auto-Tune and vocal filters can dampen the vocal experience despite clear creative merits.","Avenged Sevenfold - Life Is But A Dream… \n(53:25; Vinyl (2 LP), CD, Digital; Warner Records /Warner Music , 02.06.2023) \nAvenged Sevenfold’s „Life Is But A Dream… “ is a Musical Frankenstein’s Monster . In popular mythology, Frankenstein’s Monster is known as a being created from various parts of different bodies, resulting in a unique creature . Similarly, A7x presents us with their album „Life Is But A Dream…“, which, like the monster, \nelicits mixed opinions among listeners . But what does this album offer us? \nFrom the start, we are immersed in a blend of sounds ranging from 1970s progressive rock to classical music pieces, passing through synthesizers with futuristic intentions . At times, we find similarities with other groups, such as in the case of ‚Game Over‘, which inevitably evokes Tenacious D’s ‚Beelzeboss‘, especially in the part of „WE ARE THE D, WE ARE THE D, WE ARE THE D“. Additionally, there are moments when the album adopts a theatrical character reminiscent of the 1970s, bringing to mind The Who with their album „Tommy“ and a touch of Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd . We can also recognize sounds that remind us of Red Hot Chili Peppers with a funk tone, and even Daft Punk in songs like ‚Easier‘ and ‚(O)rdinary‘. \nOne of the surprise s of the album i s the inclusion of a classical music piece like „Life Is But A Dream…“, contrasting with the power of metal in songs like ‚We Love You“?‘. The video, developed in 360° vision, takes us f rom a lush green \nland full of energy to a bustling metropolis and, ultimately, to a post-apocalyptic future, demonstrating the experimental nature of the album . \nOverall, „Life Is But A Dream…“ proves to be an interesting proposition from A7x to showcase something out of the ordinary . Each song complements the others, making it advisable to listen to the album in its entirety to grasp its main vision . However, the excessive use of Auto-Tune and vocal filters may be somewhat disheartening. Despite this, the album has its merits . Although it may not be my favourite A7x album, it certainly has interesting elements worth exploring. \nBewertung: 12/15 Punkten (WD 12, FF 14) \nCredit: Brian Catelle \nBesetzung: \nM .
