Andrew Cook (1987-1992; Ivythorn) , latterly the Chief Development and Commercial Officer at Repton School , will be joining us as the new Head of Alumni and Foundation in September .  \nIt was lovely to celebrate the OM of the Year winners at the Millfield Brilliance Dinner this year . Peter Openshaw was able to join us in person , and Rose , Tyrone , and Lando were all there in spirit!  \nTo find out more about this year ' s OM of the Year winners , please click here .  \nBirmingham Commonwealth Games 2022  \nIt is fantastic to hear that 24 Millfieldians , including current students , staff, and O Ms , have been selected for this year ’s Commonwealth Games . The 22nd Commonwealth Games is currently taking place in Birmingham and features some of the best athletes from around the world. In 2018 , the 14 Millfieldians selected for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in Australia picked up a total of nine medals – six silvers and three bronzes – and we are keen to see how the M illfield cohort fares this year .  \nMillfield Brilliance Dinner and Millfield Polo  \nAs part of this year ' s Platinum Jubilee celebrations , we hosted Millfield ’s first-ever Brilliance Dinner . The event celebrated the finale of Giving Day , as well as the OM of the Year and Sports Personality of the Year Awards . The evening included a silent auction presented by OM and commentator , Andrew Castle (1976-79; Day) , and raised over £ 20 , 000 towards the Giving Day total. The event brought together the wider Millfield community for a unique evening of entertainment.  \nIt was also wonderful to host the M illfield Polo again this year as part o f our Platinum Jubilee celebrations . There was lots happening throughout the day for the whole family , including polo matches , food , drinks , and music on Butleigh Fields . Well done to everyone who took part in the matches , it was brilliant to see all the students and OMs play to such a high standard , and thank you to everyone who attended , it has been very special to welcome everyone back together again .  \nYou can view the photos from the Brilliance Dinner here and the photos from the Polo can be found here .  \nOMs in the news  \nHamish Steele has written and produced ‘ Dead End ,’a cartoon series for Netflix!  \nAnnie Campbell-has been selected to represent Great Britain in the women ' s eight rowing squad.  \nMillfield News  \nMillfield Headmaster Gavin Horgan was a special guest at Made By Dyslexia ’s first World Dyslexia Assembly at the Swedish Royal Palace on Wednesday 27 April. He joined a panel discussing how to empower Dyslexic Thinking in education and the workplace .  \nThe M illfield fencing team have been crowned 2022 Public School Overall Champions . The team travelled to London for the championships , and were crowned Overall School Champions for the ninth year .  \nOM Sports Club updates  \nCricket  \nThe team have started the season strongly , with the final taking place at Arundel Castle on Sunday 7 August.  \nAway from competitive cricket , we had a great day celebrating the life of Neil Goodman at a memorial 6-a-side tournament at Millfield on Friday 8 July.  \nRugby  \nMillfield Old Boys Rugby Club has got off to a strong start this summer - going undefeated atthe Bournemouth 7 ’s Festival and winning the tournament at the Cheltenham 7 ' s Festival. Follow the team on Instagram: Millfieldoldboys  \nNetball  \nThe OM netball team have been playing at the Bournemouth 7 s tournament for three years now . Last year they won the cup and this year they managed to come 4 th in a very physically tough competition .  \nGolf  \nFollowing on from the 2021 Grafton Morris h success , the Old Millfieldian Golfing Society continue to win , and back in March the team won the Brent Vase .
