A study educated school-going adolescent girls in the urban slums of Hyderabad, Telangana, India on right nutrition. Methods: Two randomly selected government schools were approved by the SAC; about 200 girls from eighth and ninth standards (ages 13–15) received baseline assessment and an intervention across eight nutrition, health, and family-life education themes using tailored educational materials. Results: The experimental school showed significant knowledge gains across all focal themes; the control group was later educated considering ethics. Conclusions and implications: Integrated communication combining print materials (charts, folders) with electronic media and CD plus interpersonal communication improved knowledge in nutrition and family-life education.",{"@graph":69,"@context":121},[70,84,104],{"@type":71,"itemListElement":72},"BreadcrumbList",[73,77,79,82],{"item":74,"name":75,"@type":76,"position":8},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":78,"name":9,"@type":76,"position":14},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/",{"item":80,"name":35,"@type":76,"position":81},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/healthcare/",3,{"item":83,"name":65,"@type":76,"position":19},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/assessment-of-an-integrated-nutrition-communication-approach-to-educate-the-school-going-adolescent-girls-living-in-urban-slums-of-hyderabad-telangana-state-india/592508/",{"url":83,"name":65,"@type":85,"image":86,"author":91,"headline":65,"publisher":94,"fileFormat":97,"inLanguage":63,"description":67,"dateModified":98,"datePublished":98,"encodingFormat":97,"isAccessibleForFree":99,"interactionStatistic":100},"DigitalDocument",{"url":87,"@type":88,"width":89,"height":90},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/assessment-of-an-integrated-nutrition-communication-approach-to-educate-the-school-going-adolescent-girls-living-in-urban-slums-of-hyderabad-telangana-state-india/592508.png","ImageObject",300,407,{"name":92,"@type":93},"McGucket","Person",{"url":74,"name":95,"@type":96},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-10-15",true,{"@type":101,"interactionType":102,"userInteractionCount":8},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":103},"ViewAction",{"@type":105,"mainEntity":106},"FAQPage",[107,113,117],{"name":108,"@type":109,"acceptedAnswer":110},"What was the study’s purpose?","Question",{"text":111,"@type":112},"To educate school-going adolescent girls living in urban slums of Hyderabad, Telangana on right nutrition and address critical dietary issues during adolescence.","Answer",{"name":114,"@type":109,"acceptedAnswer":115},"How was the intervention designed and implemented?",{"text":116,"@type":112},"After baseline data, an intervention was delivered on eight focal themes related to nutrition, health, and family life education using well-designed educational materials, in two randomly selected government schools.",{"name":118,"@type":109,"acceptedAnswer":119},"What communication approach improved the girls’ nutrition knowledge?",{"text":120,"@type":112},"An integrated communication approach combining print media (charts, folders) with electronic media (including CD) and interpersonal communication significantly improved knowledge levels.","https://schema.org",{"og:url":83,"og:type":123,"og:title":65,"og:site_name":95,"og:description":67},"article",{"robots":125,"canonical":83},"index,follow",{"doc_id":127,"site_id":62},592508,1792079825,{"code":4,"msg":5,"data":130},{"doc_id":127,"user_id":131,"nickname":92,"user_avatar":132,"doc_module":4,"category_id":34,"category_name":35,"doc_title":65,"doc_description":67,"doc_content":133,"file_id":134,"file_url":135,"file_type":136,"file_size":137,"view_count":8,"is_deleted":4,"is_public":8,"is_downloadable":8,"audit_status":8,"page_count":39,"language":138,"language_code":63,"site_id":62,"html_lang":63,"table_of_contents":139,"faqs":140,"seo_title":141,"seo_description":67,"update_tm":142,"read_time":46},1236954412713,"https://us-avatar.wpscdn.com/davatar_29158cc5080c5b710cf443261637dec0","Assessment of an Integrated Nutrition Communication Approach to Educate the School Going Adolescent Girls Living In Urban Slums of Hyderabad, Telangana State, India \n| | D. Therefore, a study was carried out to educate the School going adolescent girls living in urban slums of Hyderabad, Telangana, India on right nutrition. Methods –The study was carried out in two randomly selected government schools after obtaining approval from the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) . About 200 girls each from eighth and ninth standards were recruited as study subjects. The age of the participants ranged from 13-15 years. After obtaining baseline data, intervention was carried out on 8 focal themes related to nutrition, health and family life education, by using well designed educational material. Results: A significant increment in the knowledge levels on all the focal themes was observed among the adolescent girls in the experimental school. After completion of the study, considering the ethical issues, the control group was also given education on 8 focal themes. Conclusions and \n Implications: It was observed that an integrated approach in communication methods such as combining print media like charts, folders with electronic media, using CD alongside interpersonal communication significantly improved the knowledge levels of these girls on nutrition and family-life education. \nKeywords: Adolescent girls, Family life education, Iron deficiency anaemia, Iodine deficiency disorders. \nContents \n1.
