Introduction to this document \nThis document is for everyone involved in delivering and administering Pearson’s Skills \nfor Life, Skills for Work, and Skills for Life and Work Qualifications. Use this guide alongside the following Pearson documents: \n• Specification \n• Teaching and Learning documents for each unit \n• Authorised Assignment Briefs and, \n• Supporting Documents (see Section 12) \nThe assessment team \nThere are three key roles in the assessment process: \n• Lead Internal Verifier (Lead IV): Oversees the programme, assessment, internal verification and record keeping. The Lead IV supports the team, organises training, and liaises with Pearson’s Standards Verifier. You do not need to register your Lead Internal Verifier on Edexcel Online (EOL). However, personnel will be recorded on your verification reports, so it is important you have a named person to take on this role (this can bethe Programme Lead) . \n• Internal Verifier (IV): Works with the Lead IV to check assignments and assessment decisions are valid, ensuring they meet Pearson’s requirements. IVscan be Teachers but don’t verify their own assessments or assignment briefs. IVs are standardised by the Lead IV. \n• Teacher: Delivers the qualification content and assesses learners. Teachers need relevant expertise in both the occupational area and assessment. For the occupational area, this can be evidenced by a relevant qualification or current (within three years) occupational experience that is at an equivalent level or higher than the qualification. Assessment expertise can be evidenced by a qualification in teaching or assessing and/or internal quality assurance or current (within three years) experience of assessing or internal verification. \nBefore making assessment decisions Teachers should take part in standardisation activities led by the Lead IV and work with the IV to ensure assessment is planned and carried out in line with Pearson’s requirements. \nYou’ll find full details in the Delivery Guidance & Quality Assurance Requirements. \n2.
