From tapping on the rich ambiguity of wordless picture books in classrooms and channelling the art of children’s song writing to encountering the burgeoning world of webcomics, our programmes encourage adults and children alike to venture beyond their comfort zone to learn and grow. \nIn celebration of the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Singapore, we are delighted to welcome Philippines as this year’s Country of Focus (COF). Through our valued partnership with the National Book Development Board (NBDB) Philippines, we will focus on the rich history and tradition of Filipino children’s literature, showcase its achievements, developments, and highlight its exceptional diversity through the COF programmes at AFCC. \nFurthermore, our commitment to fostering intercultural understanding and collaboration between the two countries is exemplified through our Co-Translation Book project. Five children’s book titles from Singapore and Philippines have been selected tobe translated into Filipino and English respectively. The books will be distributed to children in Singapore and the Philippines through local literary organisations and reading initiatives. By bridging linguistic barriers, we aim to enrich the lives of children in both Singapore and the Philippines through the cross-cultural exchange of stories and experiences. \nOn behalf of the Singapore Book Council, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the National Library Board for their unwavering support throughout the years. I also express sincere appreciation to our esteemed Programme Committee members, partners, donors, \nsupporters, and volunteers, whose dedication and generosity have been instrumental in the success and growth of AFCC. \nAs we embark on this exciting journey of discovery, I wish all participants a truly enriching and memorable experience at AFCC 2024. \nClaire Chiang Chairperson Singapore Book Council \nMessage from Chief Executive Officer, National Library Board \nThe National Library Bo","cbCaihXzLcxIHhkh","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaihXzLcxIHhkh","pdf",9585604,1,104,"English","en",105,"# Message from the Chairperson\n# Message from Chief Executive Officer, National Library Board\n# Message from the Executive Director\n# About Singapore Book Council\n# Programmes\n## Country of Focus: The Philippines\n## AFCC Stories\n## Co-Translation Project\n## Hedwig Anuar Children’s Book Award 2024\n## Scholastic Picture Book Award 2024\n# Calendar (23 May to 26 May)\n# Lectures\n# Translation Forum\n# Publishing Forum\n# Public Programmes\n# Information","[{\"question\":\"What is the theme of AFCC 2024 and how is it reflected in the programmes?\",\"answer\":\"AFCC 2024 centres on the theme “Curiosity.” Programmes encourage adults and children to explore curiosity through learning and creative activities spanning exploration, innovation, and imagination.\"},{\"question\":\"Which country is the Country of Focus for AFCC 2024?\",\"answer\":\"The Philippines is the Country of Focus for AFCC 2024, with programmes highlighting its rich history, tradition, and diversity in Filipino children’s literature.\"},{\"question\":\"What is the Co-Translation Book project at AFCC 2024?\",\"answer\":\"The Co-Translation Book project selects children’s book titles from Singapore and the Philippines for translation into Filipino and English respectively, then distributes them through local organisations and reading initiatives.\"}]","Asian Festival of Children’s Content 2024 -
