It has been a while – I don’t know if you recall but we met a few months ago at a UN in Indonesia media event. As we have met before, I wanted to reach out to you directly regarding the recently published article titled “WHO Khawatir Indonesia Tak Bisa Deteksi Virus Corona”. In this article, there is some misinformation and misquotes of WHO Indonesia’s Country Representative, Dr. N. Paranietharan and I am bringing these to your notice so that they can be corrected:  \n1. At no point has Dr. N. Paranietharan said the following statement as incorrectly quoted in your article:  \n\"Kami [WHO] khawatir karena Indonesia belum melaporkan satu kasus virus corona yang terkonfirmasi,\" kata Paranietharan.  \nWe would like to request that this quote is immediately removed from your published article.  \n2. Furthermore, we would like to emphasise that WHO’s concern regarding the international outbreak of 2019-nCoV did not arise following Australian media reports from early February. WHO has been concerned about the novel coronavirus globally, including Indonesia, since information first became available. This is why a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) was declared on January 30. Please remove the following incorrect statement from your article:  \nKekhawatiran WHO itu muncul setelah laporan media Australia  \nmengungkap bahwa Indonesia disebut belum memiliki alat pendeteksi virus corona nCoV terbaru.  \n3. We would also like to fact-correct the statement inferring that Indonesia does not have the correct testing equipment and is solely reliant on a pan-coronavirus test. This is factually incorrect. Indonesia does have, and has been using, the correct specialised testing kit for 2019-nCoV, similar to other countries in the region and around the world.  \n4. Finally, we request that the title of the article is changed as it incorrectly frames WHO’s concern.
