It describes how large-scale murals, photographs, sound installations, and abstract sculptures shape the atmosphere for travelers, with attention to changing light, neighborhood diversity, and the interplay between daily life and the extraordinary. The text introduces multiple artists and themes, including Technicolor Pandemonium, L.A. Made & L.A. Scenes, LA Rhapsody, Floating Lady IV, and overlay/layover.","“Opening” by Tofer Chin | Level 3/Departures, Pre-Security \nTofer Chin’s large-scale mural celebrates the diverse neighborhoods and seemingly endless landscapes of Los Angeles. The bright, atmospheric tone of the city is shaped by the abundant transformative light that is cast throughout the metropolis. In this light-filled lobby, viewers may observe how the mood of this site-specific mural changes throughout the day, creating a space to contemplate rigidity versus fluidity. Upon further reflection of this abstract landscape, viewers may consider what is seen and unseen, tapping into their imaginations to ponder endless possibilities. \nArt at LAX Terminal 1 Extension \nAs part of its modernization and renovation, LAX has transformed many of its public spaces into art spaces by featuring permanent public art commissions and temporary art exhibitions \nand installations throughout the airport. \nPresented in partnership with the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. \nART AT LAX | TERMINAL 1 EXTENSION \nFACT SHEET \n“Technicolor Pandemonium” \nBy Renée Fox | Level 3/Departures Pre-Security \nTo love Los Angeles is to love its diversity: the people who come from allover the world and call the city home, as well as its wealth of flora and fauna. Some of the city’s most recognizable icons of the natural world originated from other countries and have adapted to L.A.’s urban landscape. Renée Fox’s mural spotlights wild parrots, the bright green and red-crowned birds that can be found all over Southern California. Taken from Mexico for the pet trade, these birds have grown in number throughout the Los Angeles region since the 1960s. Their vibrant green feathers, actually yellow feathers cleverly laid over blue ones, and crimson crowns give these flamboyant birds with their loud squawks, in flocks aptly called “pandemoniums,” an unforgettable presence as they fill the skies above Los Angeles. \n“L.A. Made\" & \"L.A. Scenes” \nCurated by Craft in America. Artists: Roberto Benavidez, Lorraine Bubar, Katherine Gray, James Herman, Karen Koblitz, Mary Little, Ben Medansky, and Jennifer Reifsneider \nLevel 3/Departures, Pre-Security \nLos Angeles has been an epicenter for the handmade in contemporary art since the mid-20th century. The groupings of artworks on view are filled with revelations about the evolving nature of contemporary craft in the region. Finding infinite inspiration in the cultures and communities that come together to define Los Angeles, these exemplary eight L.A. artists turn to a wide range of techniques and materials in their work, broadening the conversation of what art can be. These selected handmade works are a taste of the different perspectives that define scenic Los Angeles and help redefine how craft is viewed on the world stage. \n“LA Rhapsody – Super Moon / Opus No.1” \nBy Karchi Perlmann | Departures Level, Post-Security \nKarchi Perlmann’s personal dialogue with Los Angeles is presented in the form of a large-scale photograph and an atmospheric sound installation. Upon first encounter,“LA Rhapsody\" portrays a majestic view of the city. Closer inspection reveals that the artwork serves as a platform to examine the daily life of the city. The photograph’s epic size influences a viewer’s experience as one changes vantage points, affecting one’s relationship to time, content and genre. By revealing the everyday and the extraordinary,“LA Rhapsody\" portrays a metropolis that is an enigmatic wonder to its citizens, if not the world. \n“Floating Lady IV” \nBy Tony DeLap | Departures Level, Post-Security \nGracing the large, airy bus portal,“Floating Lady IV” by Tony DeLap (1927-2019) is an abstract, illusionary sculpture that challenges the viewer’s perception of form. Composed of a Corten steel column bisected by a spine of clear acrylic, the 11-foot-tall artwork highlights DeLap’s facility with geometric shapes and life-long interest in magic as the upper portion of the column appears to mysteriously f","cbCaiiBYoZY0fcO3","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiiBYoZY0fcO3","pdf",1681692,4,1,"English","en",105,"# Art at LAX - Terminal 1 Extension\n## Opening\n## Technicolor Pandemonium\n## L.A.
