The IBRD PBG will cover a commercial loan of up to US$2,000 million on a first-loss basis and will be supported by a MIGA Non-Honoring of Sovereign Financial Obligations provided on a second-loss basis, bringing the coverage to 95% of the commercial loan cashflows. \nDirectors acknowledged Argentina’s significant progress achieved under the economic stabilization program. They recognized that the operation is critical to support the country’s return to global capital markets by mobilizing private commercial financing at significantly reduced cost, anchored by the IMF Extended Fund Facility. \nDirectors appreciated the World Bank Group (WBG) approach to the operation and the speed at which it was prepared, as well as continued coordination with the IMF. They acknowledged the layering of guarantees that support Argentina in mobilizing financing at favorable terms, leveraging the WBG’s balance sheets to maximize the impact of the reform program. \nNoting the operation’s high-risk rating, Directors noted the pace of labor market recovery and the distributional effects of the ongoing macroeconomic and structural reforms. They welcomed the operation’s focus on formal job creation and support to the most vulnerable through effective social protection programs, while maintaining fiscal discipline and reserve accumulation on a durable basis to underpin sustainable market access. They also called for reinforced environmental and social risks management, especially in light of the economic growth strategy being focused on energy and mining. \nDirectors encouraged the WBG to support the Government of Argentina in maintaining momentum on structural reforms aimed at fostering sustainable growth and broad-based job creation. \n*This Summary is not an approved
