Design/methodology/approach - The study frames the relationship between archival recordkeeping practices and machine learning by drawing on relevant literature and proposing a university-based case study for record subject classification at the University of West Attica. Findings - The research hypothesis positions subject classification at the core and argues for deeper standardisation in government actions records management processes. Originality/value - The work aims to support future practices and decision-making and functions as the first theoretical part of an ongoing project.","| | |
| --- | --- |
| Journal of Integrated Information Management | |
| Vol 8, No 1 (2023) | |
| Jan-June 2023 | |
| | Archives and records management in machine learning technologies context
Ioannis Triantafyllou, Christos Chrysanthopoulos, Yannis Stoyannidis, Anastasios Tsolakidis
Copyright © 2023

This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0. |
| To cite this article:
Triantafyllou, I. , Chrysanthopoulos, C. , Stoyannidis, Y. , & Tsolakidis, A. As the volume and complexity of digital records continue to grow, traditional methods of organising, classifying, and managing records face new challenges. Machine learning technologies offer opportunities to revolutionise how records are maintained, accessed, and used.
Design/methodology/approach - The relationship between records and archive management and machine learning practices is presented through the literature. This paper proposes a case study implementation of machine learning practices for the subject classification of records at the University of West Attica.
Findings-This paper presents a research hypothesis placing the subject classification of records at the center of the discussion. It highlights the necessity of deepening the standardisation of government actions record management processes.
Originality/value - By exploring this topic, the paper seeks to contribute to a deeper understanding of the transformative role that machine learning technologies can play in archives and records management and to inform future practices and decision-making in the field. It is also the first theoretical part of an ongoing research project on the subject classification of the University of West Attica records.
Index Terms — Archives and records management, Machine learning, Compu","cbCaippWisP6E11h","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaippWisP6E11h","pdf",744447,1,"English","en",105,"# Abstract
## Purpose
## Design/methodology/approach
## Findings
## Originality/value
# Introduction
## Provenance and original order
## Challenges from born-digital records","[{"question":"What purpose does the paper pursue regarding machine learning and archival work?","answer":"The paper explores the goal and potential of integrating machine learning technologies into archives and records management, focusing on emerging challenges created by growing digital records."},{"question":"How does the paper approach the topic methodologically?","answer":"It presents the records-and-archive-management relationship with machine learning through literature and proposes a case-study implementation for record subject classification at the University of West Attica."},{"question":"What is the core research hypothesis presented in the findings?","answer":"The hypothesis places subject classification of records at the center of the discussion and highlights the need to deepen standardisation in government records management processes."}]","Archives and records management in machine learning technologies context -
