Assessment is covered clearly through Component 1 (60%) and Component 2 (40%), alongside the key photography and digital editing skills developed.","Why should I study GCSE Photography?  \nYou enjoy all aspects of today’s media world.  \nYou enjoy taking photographs all the time.  \nYou like using digital media and software  \nYou have basic drawing skills  \nYou also enjoy art & design and its range of media  \nYou have imagination and ideas  \nWhat will I study?  \nYear 10  \nYou will learn about basic photography skills and how to edit and manipulate your photographs using Photoshop through a studying the photography of others and responding to their style within a project theme. The first 3 short projects are ‘alphabet’, ‘objects’ and ‘places’. This collection of work will contribute to ‘Component 1’ which is 60% of your grade. You will also have the opportunity to work with  \nPhotographer Chris Vaughn doing some movement and light trail workshops.  \nPortfolio (starts at Easter in Year 10)  \nThis body of work is based on the theme ‘Identity’ and is a big sustained project which forms the bulk of component 1. You will develop skills learned earlier in the course to build a body of work which includes recording, contextual links and experimenting with media. This work will be finalised with a personal photographic response you have created which relates to the set theme and links all your project work together.  \nExternally set task (starts January in Year 11)  \nStudents will develop a project from a choice of themes on the exam paper and work towards their final outcome which is done in a 10 hour exam.
