There will be a greater focus on spelling, punctuation and grammar, including the use of vocabulary and different sentence structures.  \n• Reading and writing will be equally weighted in the new English Language GCSE. Speaking and listening (now called Spoken Language) will not count towards a student’s final marks.  \n• Both English GCSEs will be assessed through terminal examinations.
