It is only necessary to create an approximation of the gear tooth form. These models can be used in both virtual and actual mechanical assemblies that you design an build using the GEARSIDS kit. \n60 Tooth Gear Specifications \nPitch Teeth Bore Material Set Screw Hub Dia. Drawings and specifications like these are prepared for a manufacturer so that he/she might prepare a production quote. The only additional information required to estimate the cost of producing this gear would bethe quantity required. \n1 \n105 Webster St. Hanover Massachusetts 02339 Tel. 781 878 1512 Fax 781 878 6708 [www.gearseds.com](www.gearseds.com) \nProcedure for Drawing an Approximation of a Spur Gear \nThe following procedure can be used to create gear models using CAD workstations. This method will produce an approximation of the gear tooth form well suited for assemblies and animations. It is neither necessary nor efficient to take the time to draw an exact involute tooth form for the purpose of creating working drawings and models. \nNote: Refer to the Spur Gear Definitions and Formulas table at the end of this document for explanations ofthe formulas listed below. \nIn this example we will draw the 36 tooth, 24 pitch spur gear. Using this example you will be able to draw a spur gear having any number of teeth and pitch. Begin by laying out the Pitch, Root and Outside circles ofthe 36 tooth gear. \n1. Calculate and draw the Pitch Circle. The Diameter of the Pitch Circle is calculated below; \na. D = NP~~ ~~ D = 3624 = 1.5\" \n2. Calculate and draw the Root Circle. The formula to determine the Root Circle Diameter is given below; \na. RD = N~~ ~~2~~ ~~ = RD = 362−4~~ ~~2 = RD = 3424~~ ~~ = 1.416” \n3. Calculate and draw the Outside Circle. The formula to determine the Outside Circle Diameter is given below; \na. OD = N~~ ~~2~~ ~~ = OD = 362+4~~ ~~2~~ ~~ = OD = ~~ ~~3824~~ ~~ = 1.583” \n4. Draw a vertical center line (AB) from the center of the circles to a point outside the circles. \n5. Calculate and layout the Circular Thickness angle to the left (CC W) of the vertical center line. \na. Calculate the angular measurement for the circular thickness using the following formula \nFor this example: \nNo3\\#60oTeeth ∗ 0.5 = Circular Thickness Angle \nFig. 2 Initial Layout and Circular Thickness Angle \n36036~~ ~~o~~ ~~ ∗ 0.5 = 5 o \nNote: In the equation above, it is necessary to multiply by 0.5 (or divide by 2) since there are always an equal number of teeth and spaces in each gear! \n2 \n105 Webster St. Hanover Massachusetts 02339 Tel. 781 878 1512 Fax 781 878 6708 [www.gearseds.com](www.gearseds.com) \n6. Draw the Pressure Line. The pressure line is drawn through the pitch point at an angle of 20 degrees from a line tangent to the top of the pitch circle. \nFig.3 The Pressure Line \n7. Create a line that bisects the circular thickness angle. This line should intersect or extend beyond the outside circle as shown in figure 3 below. \nFig.4 The Circular Thickness Angle Bisector \n3 \n105 Webster St. Hanover Massachusetts 02339 Tel. 781 878 1512 Fax 781 878 6708 [www.g","cbCaimC4eBWZIazM","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaimC4eBWZIazM","pdf",680232,"English","# Project Description\n# Procedure for Drawing an Approximation of a Spur Gear\n## Calculate Pitch Circle\n## Calculate Root Circle\n## Calculate Outside Circle\n## Pressure Line and Circular Thickness Angle\n## Base Circle and Tooth Form Locator\n## Create and Trim Tooth Form","[{\"question\":\"What does the document require for creating the gear model and working drawing?\",\"answer\":\"Create a solid model and a working drawing of the specified 24-pitch gears, using an approximation of the gear tooth form rather than an exact involute tooth.\"},{\"question\":\"Which example gear is used to demonstrate the CAD drawing procedure?\",\"answer\":\"The procedure walkthrough uses a 36 tooth, 24 pitch spur gear as the example.\"},{\"question\":\"What main geometric elements must be constructed in order to form the tooth shape?\",\"answer\":\"The method lays out the pitch, root, and outside circles, draws the pressure line at 20°, builds the base circle, creates tooth-form locator circles, then traces and trims to generate the tooth form.\"}]","Approx Method Draw Involute Tooth - Revision 2 | PDF",25]
