In taking this course you will come to understand the development of the world as we know it through gaining insight into the historical experiences of the many regions of the world and their interactions through time. \nThis course is structured as a college-level survey course in world history. Therefore, the work load will be heavier than that of an honors or college preparatory course in the subject. You will become “historians” as you analyze numerous primary sources and apply what you have interpreted from the data to the topic at hand. The course will also focus on the development of historical writing skills. Students will practice the discipline of historiography through numerous writing assignments in which they will demonstrate understanding and analysis of major events and themes in world history. A major aspect of this course is to allow students to develop and utilize their critical thinking skills in both written and oral communication. \nThe course will incorporate the following AP World History themes throughout the school year as you study the historical development of the world by focusing on the following themes: \nThe Five AP World History Themes [CR2] \n1.
