Read this syllabus and show it to your parents. Please reach out to me if you have any needs or questions regarding this class. \nCourse description: AP Physics C: Mechanics is a calculus-based introductory college-level physics course. Students cultivate their understanding of physics by developing models of physical phenomena through inquiry-based investigations. Students build their understanding of physical models as they explore and solve problems in these topics: \nKinematics; Forces and Translational Dynamics; Work, Energy, and Power; Linear Momentum; Torque and Rotational Dynamics; Energy and Momentum of Rotating Systems; and Oscillations. Students should have taken, or be concurrently taking, calculus. A full course description can be found on the College Board website. \nText and Suggested Materials: \nPhysics for Scientists and Engineers by Serway, AP/10th Edition (provided) \n5 Steps to a 5: AP Physics C, by Greg Jacobs (recommended, 2025 or later edition) \nScientific Calculator (Calculators with QWERTY keyboards are not allowed.) \nThree-ring Binder (Suggested dividers: Notes, Practice, Assessments, Labs, ACT) Unlined and Graph paper \nDry Erase Markers (assorted colors) \nFour different colored pens or pencils \nLaboratory \nThe number one priority in labs is safety. Though labs will be completed in pairs or groups, everyone is responsible his/her own understanding of the lab, which may be assessed. \nGrading: Students will be graded using total points. Assignments will include class work, homework, quizzes, tests, lab work, and lab reports. \nAbsences: The absentee assignment policy of Rutherford County Schools will be followed. The student is responsible to find, complete, and submit make up work in a timely manner. Make up tests and labs must be completed at a time scheduled by or with Mr. Kinney. \nLate Work: Any assignment submitted late will be subject to a 10% deduction per class period late. \nAP Physics C: Mechanics Exam: Wednesday, May 13, 2025, 12 P.M. Students are required to sit for the AP exam to earn the five extra rigor points for the class. The exam is a hybrid digital exam where students will view all the exam questions on a computer. The students will answer multiple-choice questions on the computer but will answer free-response questions in a provided paper booklet.","cbCaicVaDO2ubfpq","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaicVaDO2ubfpq","pdf",101430,"English","# Course Overview\n## Course Description\n## Topics Covered\n# Materials and Lab Requirements\n## Texts and Suggested Materials\n## Laboratory and Safety\n# Policies and Assessment\n## Grading\n## Absences and Make-up Work\n## Late Work\n# AP Physics C Exam Details\n## Exam Date and Format","[{\"question\":\"What course topics are included in AP Physics C: Mechanics?\",\"answer\":\"The course includes kinematics; forces and translational dynamics; work, energy, and power; linear momentum; torque and rotational dynamics; energy and momentum of rotating systems; and oscillations.\"},{\"question\":\"What materials are required or recommended for the class?\",\"answer\":\"Students are provided Physics for Scientists and Engineers (Serway, AP/10th Edition).
